Is there any differences between the British or Kiwi man?

Just that really…

Posting here for traffic. Anyone who has had any experience with Kiwi man? Generally speaking are they different than the British guys?

Are they more polite, generous and chilled?

I’ve lived in England and New Zealand. Some are idiots, some are lovely. Just like British men. I guess the majority of kiwi men are slightly more family oriented than British men - though some aren’t. It’s such a vague question and too many variables to give a precise answer

This is the sort of insight the OP was asking for. Some of the responses here are ridiculous. Anyone who can’t recognise that there are cultural tendencies which differ from country to country have probably not travelled much or been exposed to other people.

GrouchyKiwi · 12/06/2022 13:00

Here you are, OP.

But this is only for England, so if you're a different kind of Brit I can't help you.

IcedPurple · 12/06/2022 13:27

A high proportion of 'Kiwi' men are of British descent, so there are unlikely to be massive cultural differences. Plus, as others have said, people are people.

One swills his mouthwash clockwise, the other swills in an anti-clockwise direction. I can't remember which is which.

😂😂😂

Well OP I live in the southern hemisphere but married someone from the northern hemisphere.... So I'd say I've been subject to both varieties.

So he made a move on you and you aren't sure if he was flirting?

I'm intrigued now. What did he do? 👀

calmama · 12/06/2022 13:39

Depends on what you're into, OP. British men are seedy and red on the inside. Kiwi men are seedy and green on the inside.

Indoorcatmum · 12/06/2022 14:15

Born and raised in NZ, engaged to a Brit.
I wouldn't touch kiwi men with a ten-foot barge pole.
I left the country because they weren't for me... But that's just my opinion, they aren't bad people (obviously).
English men on a whole are more gentlemanly, considerate and still have elements of old fashioned values which I really appreciate.

This is why these threads don't work. I married a colonial and found he had all those qualities in bucket loads while the English men I knew didn't. If there are cultural similarities and differences, I'd argue Aussies are more 'English' and Kiwis are more 'Scottish' which means there are more similarities than differences.

People differ.

Kiwi men are good at walking upside down - coming from a land down under

ghislaine · 12/06/2022 18:00

If he’s making what look like flirtatious overtures then he’s probably flirting with you. It’s not like Italy where a degree of flirtatiousness is par for the course in most male/female interactions.

StoneofDestiny · 12/06/2022 18:12

British - do you mean Scottish, Welsh, NI or English British?

mbosnz · 12/06/2022 18:18

Tena Koe, I'm 7th generation Aotearoa born, Ngati Pakeha all the way (sadly).

I would suggest that the main thing, if you're going to get serious with a Kiwi, you talk about the what if's, and where's. Kiwis in general are very much attached to our homeland, our turangawaewae.

I'm married to a British Born Kiwi male. Best of both worlds.

Some Kiwi guys are fucking arseholes. I went out with a few. Some are bloody awesome. Kiwis are just like everyone else. If the dude you're into is polite, generous and chilled, that's the main thing. If he isn't, then throw him back, regardless of where he comes from.

Just one thing. The green hairy thing is a kiwi FRUIT. NOT a kiwi.

Essexgirlupnorth · 12/06/2022 18:23

All the kiwi men I have met have been nicer than Australian men. I lived in Oz for a year and two of my colleagues had kiwi partners. One had met him in UK when he was doing his PhD and the other in Australia. Both really nice men polite and treated their partners well. All the ones I met travelling in New Zealand were nice as well and very chilled. Obviously can't vouch for every kiwi man!

GrouchyKiwi · 12/06/2022 18:27

Preach it, sister.

Amene.
I owe you a hokey pokey ice cream recipe.
E tane will be the one to give it to you - because he's the dude that makes the kai!

whyohehy · 12/06/2022 18:48

@TomPinch agree. Theres a tendency to not talk about feelings and keep their real thoughts under wraps. It's the 'staunch' kiwi male. It's all about being a strong bloke etc. Very outdated now but that is the culture. Not sure I've ever talked to my brother or father about their inner feelings ever. They'd be really uncomfortable if I did!

fancyafrenchfancy · 12/06/2022 19:12

Hey all,

ive read through every single comment and I totally get how it’s a weird thread… my mind was all over last night and I thought why not post here…

just wanted to clarify that he calls himself a kiwi… I’m not sure about the Māori and Pakeha nationalities and just to clarify I didn’t want to offend anyone or anything like that… I frankly know not much
about New Zealand and cultural stuff

Thanks all the ones taking the piss, it made me laugh 😂 ps I would absolutely love to see a kiwi bird in real life. They look adorable! This was the only thing I knew about NZ and it’s been on my bucket list to see one 🤣 wild I know…

@isthismylifenow
he’s been just super helpful with something that he really doesn’t need to be… super quick at getting back to texts, got me a coffee before and dropped it off for no particular reason and just the way he looks at
me. Feel like our conversations are short because sort of struggling to look into each other’s eyes for too long without blushing… probably I’m just overthinking it and there is nothing there though

mbosnz · 12/06/2022 19:25

Yeah, nah, he's into you. He sounds a good one. Ka nui te pai!

To clarify, both Maori and Pakeha are Kiwi. One has a whakapapa (family tree) that has Maori iwi and whanau (tribe and family). The other is a New Zealander who does not.

fancyafrenchfancy · 12/06/2022 20:38

@mbosnz I am not sure, maybe he is just nice…

you know that there is that saying that in today’s world some folks misread politeness and flirting or something like that…

ill see if we get in touch next week. The thing he was helping me with is kinda sorted and that was our main reason to talk to each other 😂 we shall see….

whyohehy · 12/06/2022 20:51

Fingers crossed for you. Hopefully you will fall in love and move to NZ with him and live in paradise forever more Smile

onlythreenow · 12/06/2022 21:18

Seriously, have you read the numerous posts of MN about the male partners of many posters???

jcyclops · 13/06/2022 00:22

Question: What's a Hindu?

Brit: A follower of a religion from the Indian Subcontinent

Kiwi: It lays iggs

SkiingIsHeaven · 13/06/2022 00:28

Kiwi's have a layer of fuzz on the outside

SleepingStandingUp · 13/06/2022 00:29

They have different accents!

Tbf, this is enough for me 😂 it's a very nice accent.
