To be annoyed that it's impossible to buy a senior railcard

You have to buy them online (which is an accessibility issue in itself, especially for the senior railcard) but the system is broken, has been for while, people are complaining about on twitter. They have a customer service number, but nobody ever answers the phone.
It's infuriating that it's such poor customer service. It costs so much more to buy train tickets without the railcard and I have a trip I need to take next week. Has anyone else experienced this?

Really? I bought a network railcard a few weeks ago and found it very straight-forward. However, I did it on a laptop and ordered the card to come through the post - so maybe it's more difficult if you try to use an app? I generally always find things easier on a laptop as you have a proper keyboard

is it that hard to believe other people don’t have the same experience as you?

i tried on a phone, laptop, desktop, app, safari, chrome, firefox- and got the same error message every time. I updated apps as per the railcard website, which is supposed to “fix” the issue, same error message. I cleared my cache and cookies which is also supposed to fix the issue- same error message.

it is a problem with railcard, not the end users.

Try emailing [email protected], I found them very helpful when I was having trouble recently. Good luck 👍

I've given up now. Have tried on a phone, iPad and PC, with different browsers and through trainline site and directly through the railcard site. I have printed out the application for and will go to a train station and do it in person. Waste of Tesco clubcard vouchers, but there you are....

@GCMM

Email Tesco and ask for them to be refunded?

My Aunt bought the 3 year one, which you can only order online

However her App is not accepting the link at all. She's been trying to sort it out for a couple of weeks, went to main station who said they can't help

Ended up buying a 1 year one there as she was traveling next day and now got to try and get a refund on the one she can't physically download! 75 and really doesn't need the stress...

Railcard website has been having problems for months. I had the error message on countless attempts. I had to phone their helpline to buy over the phone in the end.
The mobile app for digital railcards is also having problems. They really need to sort their shit out.

I tried phoning them, but never got any answer. Others have used twitter, which often gets companies to rectify the situation, but it doesn't seem to have had that effect in this case. Maybe it's because it does work for some people, but clearly not everyone.

OP I've been struggling with website errors all week trying to replace my son's disabled Railcard. I emailed them and they gave me their telesales number:

Contact Number: 03453 050 525 (07:00 to 22:00 every day of the year except for Christmas Day)

NB the number posted above is not the one published on the website
