Building noise for 2 years

I live in an ex-council terrace. My neighbour moved in 2 years ago and initially had everything in the house ripped out and redone. Then every week tradesmen would be round to do more work. The past six weeks she's had more major building work, it seems neverending.

Thing is, me and OH work from home and have to do regular meetings and presentations. I'm struggling to concentrate with the banging and drilling.

Also, on the other side, my very elderly neighbour can barely leave the house due to his parkinsons. He's told me how much the building work bothered him in the past, god knows how he's feeling now.

We're planning on moving in the autumn. Do I leave it or have a word? Everytime I speak up on things like this it backfires and I cause more problems.

Am I being unreasonable or is it fair to speak up?

Btw my neighbour used to be friendly but now she tries to pretend she doesn't see me when we walk by eachother.

As long as they are working within the usual hours (8-6 I think) I don't think there is much you can do. They are entitled to carry out work on their home. It's just unfortunate you work from home (and I say that as someone who has worked from home for the last 11 years). They can't just stop the work mid-project.

Yes, I agree there. I was just thinking that saying something might make her think carefully about her impact on others when she wants to get more work done after this.

Do you have noise cancelling earphones for your meetings? They make a big difference

I do have some but they don't block out the banging unfortunately, plus the mic picks up the noise, which is awkward in client meetings.
