Would you use a childminder with a dog?

Just that really. We want to use a childminder rather than a nursery, purely for logistical reasons as they can collect older child from school. However all the childminders locally have dogs. I’m not a dog person, and I’m quite wary of them. I know they will be kept shut away from the children but would I always be worrying about it while I’m at work?

aibu for even being worried about it?

Completely depends on the dog, and the set-up the childminder has.

For example, I'd be much more content with dopey old labrador who "lives" in the conservatory and comes out on walks on a lead, than I would be over 3yo german shepherd who has free roam of the house.

Yes if I viewed the set up and met the dog

But I'm a 'dog person'

Gosh this is old! We went with a nursery in the end :)

The childminder I visited assured me the dogs were always kept separate however as I left I saw 2 children napping in the living room where the dogs were! Accepted his nursery place that day.
