I wonder if you lovely people could help me think of ideas.

My poor boyfriend is on an acute ward and really struggling. He's been put on a med that doesn't help him atall and I keep being told he will be put on the meds he needs but it has been 3 weeks. I was told again today they will start him on them soon. I couldn't see him today as he was so unsettled. I could hear him crying and calling my name 💔

I'm hopefully going to see him on Saturday but want to drop something in tomorrow to cheer him up. I can't even talk to him on the phone as he has smashed up his phone and the patient home, silly thing.

Any ideas, much appreciated!

Some foodie treats perhaps? Crunchy things are supposed to help with anxiety. A soft blanket?? See if you can get him access to music and headphones?

Depending on what’s aloud on his ward (as some can be strict with blankets, anything that can be turned into a ligature, sharp things)..

A photo of the 2 of you. (Not in a frame)
Puzzle books
Arty things (pens/paper/paints)
Teddy/Cuddly toy
Stressball
His favourite chocolate/snacks
Books of uplifting/motivational quotes

You sound like a lovely caring girlfriend. Wishing your boyfriend well in his recovery and starts to feel better soon❤

The wards quite lax actually. Another patient has walked him with a belt on his arm and face.

Those all sound great, thank you. And thank you for the well wishes. I know once he's on the correct meds he'll be fine. Just pretty miserable for him in the meantime.

A new phone doesn’t have to be all singing and dancing the contact with my outside support meant the world to me, adult colouring books , iPod with music loaded on , favourite snacks
you sound lovely best wishes to your boyfriend

Thank you so much. I agree about outside contact.

When I'm very very down I need things that numb me - like stupid Candy Crush/Woodoku phone games or really easy to read novels. Make sure his phone or laptop are charged and he has his chargers with him. Maybe download a few new silly games onto hisphone for him. or bring him a really easy to read mystery or spy novel.

You could do him a spotify playlist of soothing or upbeat music (not too upbeat, not so it seems like a 'cheer up' message, but just avoid stuff that would sink him any deeper).

Some healthy foods that might help with mood. Walnuts and almonds are good if he likes them. Some fresh smoothies, dark chocolate, a cup of really good fresh coffee.

A card, note or letter telling him you love him and reassuring him that although he is feeling really ill now, he will get through it and the feeling won't last forever.

A letter reassuring him that he'll feel better when meds sorted. Perhaps a suggestion if something nice to do together when he's discharged, to give him something to look forward to?

Above I meant whacked him on the face and arm with a belt.
