Do I have a drink problem?

Ok, since having my DS 2 years ago I have been out twice and ended up getting really drunk on both occasions, I feel really sad about this and wondering if I should give up drinking completely, does this mean I have a drink problem? I was put on sertraline after Ds as I had really bad PND. I’m happy to never drink again but I just don’t understand why I ended up so drunk on both occasions?

I can only drink bubbles now. Literally 2 bottles and I’m a bit tipsy. 2 glasses of ‘normal’ wine? Wankered.

I don’t drink that often either (twice a month ish?) but can drink bubbles like squash. Oh. And g&t.

I don’t generally drink at home no. Just the twice I have been out I have ended up absolutely shit faced. Maybe it is the tablets or I was enjoying myself a bit too much and over indulged

I'm a mum to a 5 year old and by god when I get the opportunity to go out "out" you can bet your ass I'm getting shitfaced. Like you this is once in a millennium.

Don't sweat it, enjoy yourself Bear.

I was also diagnosed with PND and I'm on Citalopram 20mg. Im also a pharmacist and can say once in a blue moon won't do you any harm.

Nothing wrong with letting your hair down occasionally.

Drinking is a problem when it affects your relationships (including parenting), your job, your finances.

If you get drunk only once a year, but pass out and neglect children, then it's a problem. If you can't get to work the next day, then it's a problem. If you fight with your partner, then it's a problem.

If you get drunk, your hubby puts you to bed and the children are looked after, then it's not a problem. See shat I mean? Technically overindulging twice in two years is not an issue, but if is affects your life, then it is!

maybe the next time you go out, have one drink, then a water, etc. Have a nice time without overindulging.

Sertraline and other similar tablets can make you react strangely to alcohol - I couldn't drink while I was on them, I felt really nauseous and sleepy.

It doesn't sound like you have a problem, but I wouldn't drink on the tablets if I were you.

If you only drink twice a year you are not going to have a high tolerance and very likely to feel drunk after 1 (or more) drink.

Erm, I thought you were going to say you drink a bottle of wine every single night or something like that!

Although not to make light of your situation, I don't think it is a gy idea to ever drink until you completely loose control.
