To buy what is essentially a different coloured game of Jenga for £30??

I don’t know, would the different colours make it easier for people with visual impairments?

MiddleParking · 05/06/2022 11:14

I imagine the market is ‘gifts for people who like board games and also like instagrammable things’. £30 isn’t really that much.

Possibly. Good point. But surely doesn't justify the price.

I do think £30 is a lot when compared to original Jenga.

Was one of my favourites as a child. I'm clearly biased Grin

How much is normal Jenga? Games always feel expensive when I buy them!

washingwakeup · 05/06/2022 11:31

Anyway, I see they have a whole range and this is one of the cheaper ones, so I guess people do buy them!

Does it come in a nice tin rather than a cardboard box? I often spend more if it is materially better as my mantra when shopping is 'buy less, but better'.

washingwakeup · 05/06/2022 11:38

You can get original Jenga for £12.

Can't see how it's packaged.

The Connect 4 is £40, but that's at least a significant upgrade form plastic to wood, so I can get past that

Don't most games cost about that now? I haven't got my specs and assumed it was a 300 pound gold plated set. 30 quid isn't exactly shocking

ShaunaTheSheep · 05/06/2022 12:50

I saw a multicolour Perspex set. Now that was gorgeousbut ridiculously expensive

Yes it would for me. Pricey though!

Louise0701 · 05/06/2022 12:54

It’s £30? Not sure if the issue here. Lots of board games are at least £20 now.

Basilbrushgotfat · 05/06/2022 13:09

Yanbu op.

WooNoodle · 05/06/2022 13:20

Don't see the issue tbh. Some people might prefer the different colours. It might come in better packaging than that flimsy plastic.

WooNoodle · 05/06/2022 13:21

Could be nicer wood.

WooNoodle · 05/06/2022 13:22

You can spend an absolute fortune on a fancy chess set, this is no different

FlyToTheSun · 05/06/2022 13:30

It’s still not very expensive so you definitely wouldn’t need to have more money than sense to buy it.

A friend of ours made us a set for our garden in similar colours and it is lovely.

Oldfilmsareshit · 05/06/2022 13:31

Lots of things that ‘look nicer’ are more expensive. You could apply your thinking to clothes or houses or virtually anything

UthredofBattenberg · 05/06/2022 13:35

How do different colours of wood help a visually impaired person play jenga? You dont have your own pieces once they are in the tower, you just choose the one you fancy taking off, colour has nothing to do with it?

Connect 4 colour is a factor, but not jenga

Basilbrushgotfat · 05/06/2022 14:12

@UthredofBattenberg the different colours would help them differentiate the bricks if they struggle to see detail
