I wasn't that bothered till i saw it on tv. I'm not even a royalist.

Go tomorrow instead! There’s still a day left!

Winniewonka · 05/06/2022 00:06

YABU. You've had a much better view on TV, think if you were stuck in the middle of the crowd half down the Mall. Then you have to get back to your hotel afterwards😀

Simonjt · 05/06/2022 00:07

I’m glad we left London for it, plus imagine being in that crowd, hearing Ros Stewart droning on and needing a wee.

BonjourCrisette · 05/06/2022 00:08

YABVVVU. It was awful. I had to go into central London on Thursday for something not related to the Jubilee and honestly it was not a fun time. I am sure you'll have had a better view on TV and additionally not had to cope with millions of people who can't walk at a sensible pace, operate the tube system effectively or stay sober enough not to be an arsehole.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 05/06/2022 00:13

Went to the Mall tonight and it was lovely. Hugely diverse crowd, locals and tourists, enjoying the moment and appreciating her. Very pleased to have been there. Can be on my sofa every other night.

Maybe you are right. But I really enjoyed watching and I imagine the atmosphere was great if you were there

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 05/06/2022 00:14

YANBU I have been far more interested in it than I ever imagined.
Kicking myself for being too lazy to walk to Civic centre for the lighting ceremony on Thurs (15 min walk max). Thought it was like Olympic flame and would burn all weekend & I could see it when I went into town Friday, but seemingly not 😭

SunflowerGardens · 05/06/2022 00:20

All of the local jubilee celebrations have been nice too, I went to a jubilee party tonight and it was nice to feel a part of it all.

SunflowerGardens · 05/06/2022 00:21

Also I don't think the Queen is even in London anymore is she? Which would make me less inclined to travel there if you can celebrate locally.

claracluck1978 · 05/06/2022 00:35

We went on Thursday. It was crazy busy & one DC was actually really scared of the crowds at the start. It was an amazing atmosphere & one I hope stays with my 2 kids for a v long time.

Antarcticant · 05/06/2022 00:56

I'm sure it was a great atmosphere but on balance I'd rather have the comfort of my sofa rather than stand for hours, the warmth of some blankets rather than wind chill on this less-than-scorching night, an inexpensive bottle of supermarket plonk rather than overpriced beers, loo seconds away rather than having to fight through a crowd and queue, prime camera views rather than craning my neck to see over the tall bloke who's got his DD on his shoulders, and my bed just upstairs rather than a train journey away.

If transport was covered if love to travel across country to various events.

TrickorTreacle · 05/06/2022 01:14

YABU.

You would have been stuck on crowded trains and tube services with possible delays. This is because everyone will have had the same idea as you.

If you want to enjoy London, do something more 'routine' there such as a theatre production at West End, or Harrod's, afternoon tea or go to the science museum / Madame Tussuads etc.

Hehe this is me watching the Glastonbury festival from my lounge every year!

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 05/06/2022 01:24

That was is response to antarticant, can't tag you, sorry x

DFOD · 05/06/2022 01:36

I was in this evening at the theatre - drove in - much much less traffic and people about than normal in Covent Garden.

I went to our beacon lighting and they put it out after 15 minutes!

mackthepony · 05/06/2022 02:27

The weather looked lovely too

FlipFlopsMakeMyToesCold · 05/06/2022 03:52

We took the kids on Friday. The atmosphere was amazing and we loved it. Kids are 9 and 6 and even though it was busy, it wasn't so busy that we couldn't walk or worried for the kids.

Go tomorrow, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy it.

NoProbLlamaa · 05/06/2022 08:19

YABU

it was hideous yesterday. I’ve never been to an even so poorly organised

ArtVandalay · 05/06/2022 08:23

I’ve got to go into London today, for something completely unrelated.

I'm dreading coming across flag waving loons. I’m hoping they’ll have gone home by now.

@ArtVandalay Good luck.

hitrewind · 05/06/2022 09:01

I'm not a royalist either but I think after the last couple of years, any opportunity to come together to celebrate something is appealing on a deep level.

I'm not in the UK and probably wouldn't have gone even if I was, but I have felt a few pangs as I see the street parties and people having fun as a collective.

Something very special about those kinds of moments in a country.
