To not tell NDN about night time noises

ImStillMe · 03/06/2022 14:52

A few night ago I heard some noises outside after midnight. I couldn't work out if it was a cat or fox or someone in distress.

Upon opening the window it became apparent that NDN's bedroom window was open and it was the sound of a woman enjoying sex echoing around the cul-de-sac.

NDN is a seventy-something divorcee who lives alone. Didn't sound like her.

Saw NDN a few days later and she mentioned that her adult son had stayed over with his partner whilst NDN was away. And they are staying over again soon.

I didn't say anything but part of me wants to advise her that they should keep the window shut. It wasn't a hot night weather-wise.

Next doors dd must have her bed next to my wall. I often hear it banging against my wall. I wouldn't embarrass her or her parents. It doesn't last for long tbh.....

GoodVibesHere · 03/06/2022 19:21

Oh OP please tell her, and do come back and tell us how it goes.

ImStillMe · 03/06/2022 19:28

I've just seen him pottering about! Didn't see the partner.

Think mum is in too, but she's hard of hearing.

So what?

bloodywhitecat · 03/06/2022 20:11

If you want to speak to anyone about it then speak to him or his partner, not his mother.

Pandorapitstop · 03/06/2022 20:30

Agree with PPs: keep your beak shut.

Mammyloveswine · 03/06/2022 20:35

Oh ffs! It's sex...its a perfectly natural healthy part of a relationship! Some people are a bit noisier than others.. some people have the window open all year... ridiculous to complain to your neighbour!!

GucciPearls · 03/06/2022 20:44

Who gives many shit! It’s natural. Keep your nose out and get some yourself

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/06/2022 20:47

You're so nosey!! Mind your own beeswax.

Bednobsbroomsticks · 04/06/2022 07:13

Ah come on. I've never heard neighbours having sex and nor do I want to. Accidental noise that gets overheard while they are doing it fine. Someone screaming with window open sounds like they want everyone to know they are having shit fake sex. Shut your windows and wind it in.

Is he not allowed to 'Potter about now either because it might irritate you? You were complaining he was having sex, now you're complaining that he isn't.

Frankly if I'd a neighbour half as nosey and self righteous as yourself, I'd deliberately open my window every single time I had sex

zingally · 05/06/2022 16:41

Jesus. People are allowed to have sex in their own home (even their mums house!) Mind your own business, and absolutely don't mention it to the NDN!

SirChenjins · 05/06/2022 16:44

Don’t mention it to your neighbour - but do clap loudly when they’re finished so they know you appreciated their performance. Some people get off on an audience, so it’s only right you acknowledge it.

WhiskersPete · 05/06/2022 16:49

Only on Mumsnet would someone consider doing this.

restedbutexhausted · 05/06/2022 16:57

@LjSebs "BDSM next to the tulips" had me yelling 😂😂

Momicrone · 05/06/2022 17:00

It's a bit selfish of them to wake people up, but it's also possible to have sex without screaming as well

LjSebs · 05/06/2022 18:59

@restedbutexhausted 😂 it's certainly a 'unique' mental image, isn't it?

Sumtimesiamgreen · 05/06/2022 19:04

i can’t believe you are even thinking about this. Leave people alone to have consensual loud sex with their window open. And…. I am intrigued why you suppose your NDN would not be having sex because she is in her 70’s why wouldn’t she?

It’s not her 70 year old neighbour - it’s her neighbour’s son and his girlfriend who like a bit of loud sex with the windows open

HarrietSchulenberg · 05/06/2022 19:30

My neighbours used to do this several times a day. Think v loud, pornstar gasping noises. I found pressing my phone against the wall and playing one of these loudly, a second or two after the noises stopped, meant they piped down a bit:

SlatsandFlaps · 05/06/2022 19:35

I would certainly tell her! She has a right to know how much of a nuisance they are when she's not there!

legalseagull · 05/06/2022 20:31

Omg what's wrong with you Grin Leave them alone in their own home. A off off noisy shag and you're all a dither.

SirChenjins · 05/06/2022 21:36

Oh come off it - all a dither indeed. Some folks get off on shagging so others can hear, don’t pretend they don’t. No-one wants to hear others shag (or if you do then there’s probably a website for that)
