Should I ring in sick on last day of work

Community care, been with the company for a year and the final day is coming up.

I've had one sick day off from them in the year I've been there. If you ring, you have to ring the out of hours team who then transfer you to management whether you like it or not, who will do their best to try and persuade you to still come in as they're 'really struggling'.

I have never seen this in a job before where you're still persuaded to come in despite being ill, especially working with elderly people.

Anyway, I know it's not good but I feel like just ringing in for my final shift. They have given me a ridiculous rota that involves seeing 9 different people at lunchtime visits, as well as the morning and tea visits.

I won't get paid if i ring in, and will lose around £100 gross. They will arrange cover as they have to. Just really done with the place now

It’s one step away from slavery. It’s sad that society has got to this, that employers are allowed to treat people in this way. Awful work conditions, not valuing people, the impact on wellbeing and quality of life, underfunded social care etc.

The whole thing is just so wrong. I don’t know why we put up with it.
