It started so well and I really get the principles. However when he starts saying that junk food is basically anything that isn’t fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds I turned off it a bit. I don’t feel like that’s sustainable at all, and yes I do get pleasure from, for example, having birthday cake for DC birthdays, or having an ice cream on the beach, or a pudding after a special dinner out - and not doing the ‘junk’ food bit of those activities would make it less enjoyable yes!
I feel like ‘normal’ eating should be the goal, with a sensible 80:20 approach to things like chocolate, cake etc. Again, I totally get the science - but life isn’t based purely on science is it?! And saying bread, rice and potatoes etc fall into the junk food category seems bonkers. Most of the world population rely heavily on these foods and are not overweight nor have problems with binge eating.
I can see how his approach works for cigarettes as that’s a much clearer line - there are no ‘good’ cigarettes- but I’m disappointed this hasn’t lived up to the expectation for me.
