Prompted by another thread and TBH I’m just nosy at how we stack up

600 mortgage
200 energy bill
50 petrol (I cycle to work and DP claims all petrol on expenses)
300 food inc pet food
40 water
75 various insurances
100 cleaner
500 fun money split equally between us covers clothes or birthdays
130 council tax
70 car insurance
25 subscriptions
200 savings

think that’s about it! Need to do a proper budget!

I just looked at my banking app and saw last month we spent £1300 on eating out 😂 definitely shocked!!

How often do you eat out??

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/06/2022 19:57

We usually eat out once a month, it's about £50 for the 2 of us. I could afford to do it more often but I'm overweight so I try and avoid it.

BoardingSchoolMater · 01/06/2022 19:58

I can't think where all my money goes 🤔

Schwarz · 01/06/2022 20:06

@Waxonwaxoff0

Realistically multiple times a week - this week we've eaten out every night, and probably will do all weekend!

Normally my kitchen "shuts" midday Friday, and we eat out all weekend. Didn't realise quite how much it stacked up 😳 spent a fortune in supermarkets too 😂 definitely going to take a look at that next month!

I probably haven’t counted everything there. I totalled up our treats and extras today because I was thinking about what we could cut out of the cost of living situation got really bad and thankfully there is quite a lot. I haven’t counted petrol or socialising as it varies widely and I claim some mileage back from work.

If anyone is interested in budgeting have a look www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/everyday-money/budgeting/use-our-budget-planner.html

it will lead you through pretty much everything you spend on from car breakdown services to birthdays house repairs and everything in between. It used to be the money advice service but I’m sure it’s the one I’ve used. Very interesting to check out the reality.

My partner and I split most of our bills proportionately, since she earns more than I do, it means that I pay less. Although we split rent, food and Spotify 50/50. We pay for our own phone bills, Union memberships and other subscriptions. I also pay for our cat’s healthy pet club.

Mine is as follows:

£277 - Rent
£205 - Spending money
£205 - Investments
£100 - Savings
£100 - Food
£61.92 - Electric and water
£39 - Public transport
£35 - Council Tax
£16.49 - Cat’s Healthy Pet Club
£10 - Phone bill
£7.85 - Union membership
£7 - Spotify
£2.49 - Apple storage
