Dragon's Den backed slimming aids. Will they work?

Princessoftheuniverse · 01/06/2022 16:31

I usually wouldn't dream of buying slimming aids but have to admit I'm tempted to try 'Prima'. They have been backed by investment from the 'Dragons'. Has anyone tried them or know anything about them? They're not cheap if they're a waste of time but well worth it if they work. Frightened of being scammed and missing out in equal measure. AIBU to try them . AINBU to try them.

That’s a scam

Princessoftheuniverse · 01/06/2022 16:37

Well that didn't take long. Thank you. Must get myself on Twitter.

The reviews are awful and the ingredients don't have anything in them that would suggest they would have any impactful advantage.

Purpleavocado · 01/06/2022 16:41

Have you read the Amazon reviews? They are all one star.
This is what's in it.
Apple Cider Vinegar Powder, Sodium, Guarana Extract, Vegan Powder, Magnesium, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Calcium, Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B12

YouHaveAnArse · 01/06/2022 16:46

Vegan powder made from real vegans.

Antarcticant · 01/06/2022 16:47

I doubt very much that the Dragons would have had anything to do with it.

Princessoftheuniverse · 03/06/2022 10:40

Thanks everyone. Suppose it's a case of if it sounds too good to be true......

It’s a scam. My FB feed has been inundated with these things. All different names, all apparently approved by Dragon’s Den.

CupidStunt22 · 03/06/2022 10:59

None of these slimming aids work. Not a one. If they actually worked, you'd get them free on the NHS and we wouldn't have an obesity crisis.

Winterhail · 03/06/2022 11:02

Advertisers will lie, quote famous names and try to make the product sound as if it has a scientific basis. In fact, there isn't, as far as I know, a single study showing that they work.

Lockheart · 03/06/2022 11:08

There is no such thing as a real slimming aid. If these things worked they'd be sold in every shop in the land.

Keep that in your head and you won't go far wrong.

Have a packet of salt and vinegar crisps and a coffee instead.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 03/06/2022 12:58

If slimming aids worked nobody would be fat.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 03/06/2022 13:18

I take glucommanan fibre capsules which blunt your appetite and stop the gnawing hunger pangs. I get the capsules on ebay. They're cheap enough, so if you find they don't work you haven't wasted much.

RaininSummer · 03/06/2022 13:19

They sound like a vitamin and mineral supplement. Can't see any way that will help with weight loss.

You get that it was a scam even without them charging you too much, right? As in ALL slimming aids are a scam? Why would you buy it in the first place?

OneTC · 03/06/2022 14:20

There is no such thing as a real slimming aid.

Amphetamine sulfate

CupidStunt22 · 04/06/2022 15:51

Amphetimine is a slimming aid in the same way heroin is.

MargaretThursday · 04/06/2022 16:56

I get those plus the "I just wriggled a little bit every day and got slim from that". Along with a picture of two separate people (check things like ear shape) as before and after.

I assume they remove any negative comments on fb which to me is always a red flag. If the comments are all cheerleader type and no negative then it raises up questions to me. The most obvious answer is they don't answer any negative feedback and just remove it.

alltoomuchrightnow · 04/06/2022 19:59

None of these were ever on Dragons Den . I researched it quite extensively with names and brands etc

alltoomuchrightnow · 04/06/2022 20:00

Cider vinegar is no diet aid anyway. I have a lot each day for gallstones, which it's great for. I'm also a size 18 and do about 10-15 miles a day walking. I've not lost a pound!

Poppyseed14 · 04/06/2022 21:37

OP have a look at Saxenda or Ozempic instead. Both have Facebook groups you can join for lots of info from people who are taking these. Saxenda is NHS approved though must people self fund via private prescription. Ozempic isn't yet approved for weight loss but is expected to be approved later this year under the name Wegovy.
