I have a 6 week old who cries a LOT. Throughout the day she likes to be held and cries when put down. Sometimes even when she's being held she will let out this ear piercing cry that goes on for ages with no obvious reason. During the evening when we try and chill and watch TV with younger dc she cries and it annoys them so they go off to their rooms.

I know it's normal. I know it won't last forever. But I wake up each morning to the sound of her crying and just think 'great another day of this'. I can't get anything done unless she's attached to me in the sling. I'm glued to the sofa a lot and I'm just fed up. She's on infacol but I'm not sure if it's colic or if she's just a screamy baby.

Just wanted to vent I guess. Is anyone else in the same boat? How do you cope?

6 weeks they hit peak crying and a sleep regression. Crying should get less after this week.
You're in the 4th trimester and having had kids before you know it won't last forever. I get you want to vent Flowers
It will get better we've all been there. It's hard but it passes Flowers Chocolate 🍫 lots of it xxx

Other dc were nothing like this so it's come as a bit of a shock! Thank you it just feels like Groundhog Day at the moment

Yeah I get that. We were all excited at 6 weeks thinking it was all down hill from here crying wise but it got worse for us... turned out DD has CMPA (cows milk allergy) finally diagnosed at 2/3 months and after a week of being on prescribed milk she was a different baby xx

Are you breast or bottle feeding?

iateallthepies22 · 01/06/2022 09:39

I'm formula feeding. I had wondered if it was something like this but she has no real symptoms other then the crying and fussiness...

Give it another week see if crying subsides a bit. Have you downloaded the wonder weeks app? Its really insightful founded on research done over the years of baby development.

If you have a DP my suggestion would be to take it in turns to be with baby if you can. Having a half hour break from the crying can do wonders for your mental state and help you deal with it better.

You were lucky with your other kids. I'm pretty sure my choice on numbers were restricted by a screamy baby.
