For UK holidays with a newborn and an 11 year old. Desperate to get away this summer but not going abroad this year so looking closer to home. Ideally something easy as we have a newborn. Needs to also cater for an active 11 year old. I was thinking centre parcs purely for ease but the cost is ridiculous and it just doesn't excite me that much. We are in the midlands and don't want to travel for hours and hours. Has anyone got any ideas if inspiration? Hidden gems perhaps? Not fussy and will consider coastal or countryside breaks as long as there are things to do!

Peak District self catering? Lots of rail lines converted into walking trails so suit one with a buggy. Other parent ranges ahead and back with 11 yr old on bikes.
Ashbourne has a leisure centre, Tissington (great sweet shop), Alton Towers, Museum of childhood (Sudbury??), Buxton has shops, theatre, pool, great park with child's railway rides, play park. Etc etc

We went to Peak District pre covid, we were quite near chatsworth house which was good. We also visited bakewell but other than that we were a bit stuck for things to do. I probably didn't research very well though as you've listed loads!
