Any cardiologist about?

God it's a weird one.

So.

I've had long QT
LBBB
And short QT

What is happening me?

GP doesn't feel it's worthy of a referral to a cardiologist. Mainly because the GP won't see you in person.

Hi OP, please don't take medical advice from strangers on the internet - you have no idea of anyone's qualifications or motivations. Ask for a second opinion from a real life doctor if you feel your main doctor isn't taking it seriously.

Have you already been under the care of a cardiologist? If so - contact the cardiology nurses explaining the issue and ask what you need to do now. I did that and they discussed it with the cardiologist who asked my GP to re-refer me so I have had a holter monitor to see what's going on and am now waiting for an outpatients appointment.

If you have not previously been under the care of a cardiologist, how do you know what your symptoms indicate? I'm not being rude here, I don't know what your background is. If you aren't a trained professional I can understand your GP might not take your concerns that seriously (although they should at least see you!). If that is the case then I would definitely try to see another doctor.

Small ECG changes can show up, especially in automatic readings, without being clinically significant. However you can always keep asking for a referral since you have ongoing concerns. No one can evaluate you based on an online discussion! I have long QT and bundle branch block among other things so I understand why you'd be worried, but there are many causes and it's not necessarily as serious as it sounds when you Google. Your GP has a fuller clinical picture they are using to assess. I would definitely encourage you to see another GP or even a private cardiologist if you feel very worried or unheard, though. Women's cardiac issues are under treated.

I rang my real life GP surgery today and there is no GP working today. In a practice for 8000 people. No GP.

How do you know about the long qt etc have you had an ecg?

Any other symptoms? Palpitations? Etc

titchy · 30/05/2022 11:40

Who's diagnosed Long QT if a cardiologist hasn't seen you...?

If you want to see a GP make an appointment. If there isn't a GP in today then make an appointment for another day surely?

Yes
A&E doctor

I'm more concerned about the short Qt.

If you want to be seen ASAP, go back to A&E, but you can expect a long wait. It sounds like the ED doctors didn't feel it warranted admission, so they'll be expecting you to follow up with your own GP.

PrawnToast5 · 30/05/2022 11:52

Did the A&E doctor take any action based on the results?

titchy · 30/05/2022 11:56

I doubt an A and E doc would have diagnosed Long QT syndrome and not referred you given that it can be fatal.

saveforthat · 30/05/2022 12:00

Hi Op. I'm not a cardiologist but just wanted to say I know how scary it is when there may be a problem with your heart and of course you then turn to the internet to get information if you can't get it from a doctor. Please just make an appointment with GP as soon as you can. I had problems years ago and was finally diagnosed with an arrhythmia which was controlled by medication and then ablated.I hope you get some answers soon.

Innocenta · 30/05/2022 12:05

You can have lengthened QT on an ECG without having long QT syndrome. The ED wouldn't diagnose the latter.

JetTail · 30/05/2022 12:21

I'm more concerned about the short QT.

@JetTail You were not admitted by the ED doctors, though, so they are expecting you to follow up with your GP. Nobody can give you personalised advice on a thread here, only very general comments.

Are you a cardiologist?

OP posts:
Innocenta · 01/06/2022 18:38

Oh lord, no. 😅 As I said in multiple posts, I have multiple cardiac issues myself. Lots of admissions and experience with this.

Innocenta · 01/06/2022 18:39

But you're not going to get highly personalised advice from a cardiologist by posting on MN.
