To be sick of Which? recommending everything

Every product/service and advert seems to have a 'Which?' recommended sticker slapped on it at the moment. If it's not Lidl advertising they're Which?'s cheapest supermarket it's Jet2 saying Which? thinks they do the best holidays. Is there anything Which? DOESN'T recommend?

Also where did Which come from? Apparently you have to pay a tenner a month to see their reviews but hello... there are millions of free reviews online?

Which? and Good Housekeeping are my go-to places for recommendations. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of Which?.

I have subscribed to Which for years and always check before a purchase.

I'm an ex Which? researcher (nc because massively outing otherwise!). Which? tests hardly anything in the way you might think. Product reviews are mostly based on desk research and comparing specs on paper. You're paying for a bit of saved time and someone else's opinion. Which? actually doesn't have labs or anything. Sometimes it comissions tests to an overseas lab (usually for baby products, sunscreen and cars, because that stuff would be more dangerous to guesstimate)
I believe brands pay W? big money to use the Best Buy logo. I imagine there are certainly more lucrative brands who could be awarded with Best Buy status...

One other thing. Which? has moved away from charity work under the current CEO. It's focused on churning out product reviews, which it sells for a profit. Interestingly, it still promotes itself heavily as a charity though?

Ultimatelty, YANBU. Which? Best Buy isnt without flaws and how w gets to its decisions is questionable in some cases. Takes 10 mins nowdays to do some Google research for the right product for your personal needs.
