Is anyone working all the bank holidays for no extra money or time in lieu?

I don't get anything extra for bank Holidays. This jubilee I'm working everyday. I was speaking to someone who said we should get time in lieu, I said we don't and don't believe they have to give us anything extra legally?

Is this the norm now for a lot of workers. Some staff get time and a half who are on an old contract but they've gradually phased it out.

Option to work it in my company. Otherwise its an extra day of paid holiday this year.
I was sure that's how it worked for everyone

How many days annual leave so you get? The statutory minimum is 20 days leave plus 8 days bank holidays, which if you work bank holidays can be taken at other times. So 28 days total (prorated if you are part time of course)

You probably have the equivalent time in your annual leave allowance, which is the legal requirement

This is how my company works. They're open every single day, our shift rotation doesn't always land on a bank holiday though

DH gets the day back as part of his annual leave but nothing extra such as time and a half. Apart from Christmas he works every bank holiday.

Legally they have to give the the equivalent in annual leave. Full time equivalent for England is normally 28 days annual leave, but 29 days this year.

The extra bank holiday this year isn’t necessarily a legal entitlement, it depends on the wording of the contract.

SpringRainbow · 28/05/2022 13:34

You most likely get the days back in your annual leave entitlement then.

check your contract.

If you are contracted to work bank holidays at normal pay, and you get your statutory minimum paid annual leave, its completely above board.
