Getting scared about ovarian cancer, maybe unnecessarily

I had a massive cyst on my ovary a couple of years ago, it grew to 25cm, twisted, hospital admission and surgery was traumatic, ovary and fallopian tube removed in open surgery.

Since then I've been really paranoid about what might be growing in me and over the past six months I've had bloating, cramps and abdominal weight gain. Went to GP got an appointment been referred for scan and blood tests. But now I'm simultaneously worried that I have ovarian cancer and also that I'm an overthinking timewaster.

I don't know my body any more and don't know when I should be worried.

You are not a timewaster. Could it be ovarian cancer? Yes of course. But given your history, it's far more likely to be another benign cyst. You need it looked at no matter what. Hugs

Thank you that is so kind.

The entire thing was so horrible, I can't face anything like it again. But I don't know if/when it will happen again. I had this massive thing in me and had no clue. And when it twisted, I honestly thought I was going to die. I had went to the Dr when it was growing and nobody noticed. Same symptoms as now.

I had a large (head-sized) ovarian cyst, undetected, which ultimately 'underwent tortion' and I lost both the ovary and the tube.
You've done the right thing contacting your doctor, it'll be investigated then whatever treatment required will happen.
Hang on in there, follow the process.
Some of us are just more inclined to grow cysts.

OP, I went through the exact same thing when I was in my teens! Mine was apparently the size of a grapefruit and as you said, the experience was horrific. Those symptoms you described sound very much like PCOS. Have you been tested for it? Ovarian cysts can occur with or without PCOS symptoms, so it's good to check it out either way.
