On Thursday 2nd for the Horse Guard Parade/hope we get a decent view?!

Or is it a ridiculous idea? Two DC age 7 & 10. Sensible kids.

I'd go for the day, but be prepared and have a plan B if you cannot get anywhere near Horse Guards Parade, which is possibly going to be the case.

I won't as I was unsuccessful in the ballot for seats.

I'd worry about toilet access for the kids. I don't think it's that much fun for kids in crowds and unable to see etc. As DH's not bothered, can he not make a little Jubilee treat table, put some flags or bunting up and watch to see if they can spot mummy on TV?

Im going but I go most weekends, I really want to see the flyover

CHiSOCG · 27/05/2022 20:52

Just want to see it… but get it’ll be busy and yes re toilets - maybe the ones in St James Park but they’re not huge

DO IT!!! I went for Kate and Wills wedding - AND the Diamond jubilee. Couldn't see much, but the atmosphere was magical! Smile

I'm heading up Wednesday day, enjoying the atmosphere and staying for the flyover the next day. Can't wait but my DS are 15 & 17 so a bit different.

I'm going, but if you can I'd 100% just go for it.. it's only one day.

Think I’m convincing DH. He’s just worried about how much work he’s got on how disruptive it’ll be but I’m like come on it’s a bank holiday!!!

Does DH need to go? Why don’t you and the kids go on the Wednesday and stay overnight?

CHiSOCG · 02/06/2022 21:27

So we went and had a fab day! Got to Green Park for 9am but access to the Mall was restricted. St James’s Park was full. We could have waited down the side to enter the Mall eventually but didn’t work that out in time! We moved onto Trafalgar Sq soaking up the atmosphere then saw the gun salute in Hyde Park and saw the flyover. Thousands of people just lots of people hanging around. Should have gone down on Weds night but couldn’t cos of DH work.

deffo worth the trip an amazing day out!

Glad you went, OP - we did too and although getting home was a bit of a palaver it was totally worth it.

So glad you went too!! Nice to see Her Majesty on the telly now! It was strange to wow they’re just over there and we can’t get to see them. Will deffo go down for the Coronation. A police officer was saying how they had to start restricting numbers as people were fainting.
