To wonder how football fans can afford it?

I am a football fan but no way could I manage to travel abroad for European finals.
100,000 Rangers fans in Seville.
Three trips to Wembley and a final in Paris tomorrow for Liverpool fans.
Jealous!

I’d happily spend my disposable income on football but getting home tickets/season ticket to see my club is near impossible and getting away tickets IS impossible without a season ticket 😢

The ones that I know who are average/to low earners go on the organised coaches from a local pub. They are part of those who've been driving for most of the day to be sitting in the three hour queues at Dover. They budget all year round for the away games. For many it's all of their personal spending money and covers their Birthday/Christmas as well.
I'm on a low income but theater breaks are a priority for me.

It seems totally ridiculous to make two teams from the North travel to London to play each other.

Midlands.

Midlands.

Since when were Liverpool and Manchester in the Midlands?

Three years ago they made two teams from London go to Azerbaijan to play a final.

Priorities.

I agree that semi-finals should not be at Wembley, and I would not have play-offs either.

Why not the playoffs?

I think it's great for lower division teams to get the chance to play at Wembley.

araiwa · 28/05/2022 04:10

The playoffs at Wembley over the bank holiday weekend are one of the highlights of every season

xalo · 28/05/2022 07:21

The playoffs at Wembley are often a 'once in a lifetime' experience for lower league supporters so I'm sure that they would be prepared to get there despite costs.
My OP was about the handful of teams who are dominating all competitions and the price of tickets, travel and accommodation.
