Anyone had a problem with Hermes/Evri?

So I had a parcel delivered today. The Evri driver was shouting my house number outside as I hadn’t heard the door, I had the hoover on I went down to apologise and said I’d had the hoover on! He started to have a bit of a go saying I need to make his life easier if I’m not going to be in, granted I’ve missed a few parcels from him the last few weeks, I did explain I work with children doing 9-10 hour shifts and as you know you can only divert parcels when the tracking updates on the day of delivery and I can’t access my phone at work and by the time I have a break he’d already tried to deliver. I explained this and apologised again and he said I need to make his life easier he’s self employed and only earns 52p a parcel, I told him to next time leave it around the back or throw it over the fence he said he couldn’t do that! By this time he was getting I feel very rude saying I need to divert it next door. Again I said I don’t have access to my phone and o do try to arrange my deliveries around work. I told him I wouldn’t be spoken to like this and went to shut the door. He said he didn’t mean to be rude etc… I said my bye and picked up My parcel

The tracking photo doesn’t even show a picture of the parcel but my 4 year old very upset clinging to me! I honestly do appreciate he works hard and can be doing without this hassle! It has really upset me the way he spoke to me.. I do try and get things delivered on my day off or a Saturday.

has anyone else had any issues like this? Never had any issue with the lady who used to deliver for us!

I send 100s of parcels each week with Evri with very few problems, but I'd be pretty annoyed if the courier spoke to one of my customers like that. You can rate the courier on their website by putting your tracking number in, but I'm not sure if anonymous, so maybe not the best idea if you get regular deliveries. As for not leaving it somewhere 'safe', I thought this was standard practice now. Could you pop a sign on your door...parcels in green bin if no reply please...or something along those lines.

Notanotherwindow · 27/05/2022 15:30

I've not had a problem but I'm always at work so use a drop point in the sports direct next door to my work.

Horrendous here too - lost one parcel completely and the second was randomly rescheduled for delivery the following day for 3 days (each time partway through the delivery slot) before they finally deigned to deliver it. Like others I hadn't realised this was the new name for Hermes until I had 2 parcels on the way, but I'll be avoiding them in future as I previously did with hermes.

I feel it has got worse since being evri. I have had an email to say my parcel wasn't delivered. It says they will try again the next day but that was 5 days ago and no update. They chat bot is a nightmare. I type in the tracking number and it says " your parcel wasn't delivered, is there anything else I can help you with?"... I mean, how about dealing with my actual problem?

Since my missing parcel is an Asos order I have just got them onto it. I feel like evri will listen to a big hitter like asos far more than an individual and if I persisted in the endless chat bot cycle I was likely to throw my phone out the window.

Absolutely depends on who your local courier is. I don't know anything about Hermes/Evri at corporate level but our local driver only covers our particular part of town (he's close to retirement and can't be fussed with doing long days anymore). I know him by name and he is lovely, very reliable, always comes around the same time of day, always knocks and waits but knows where to leave a parcel if there is no answer.

All delivery companies need to have a policy of employing local drivers to always deliver to their own local area, and PAY THEM PROPERLY so they can spend long enough in the job to get to know their own routes well and their own customers.

EVRI is a total disaster, I can't believe how crap they are.

The last two deliveries they took a photo of nothing - just a total blur - and claimed we weren't home. The GPS on the map wasn't even at our address.

One delivery was supposed to be starting 2 hours later than their alleged failed attemped delivery time. We were home anyway, and they didn't even come up our road - we can see when people do and our dog barks.

I can't see how EVRI can possibly continue with this disastrous level of service.

KangarooKenny · 30/06/2022 13:59

Because our Evri driver takes a photo with us and the parcel, this includes my teenage DD 😡) we no longer answer the door. He leaves it on the step.

My evri lady is great , but she is leaving soon sadly !
She has become a friend. Very hard working and pleasant.

Rodneytrotterslovechild · 30/06/2022 14:42

I loved our evri bloke-polite,friendly and knew where to leave our parcels if we where at work
he quit
its been a shitshow since-I’ll get an email to say it’s coming today-and it doesnt
i ordered some clothes (so about 4 parcels) and they didn’t show-but they said they had
the chat bot was useless-and just as I was about to lose it,my dp walked in with the parcels-he’d found them in our wheelie bin!(that’s behind a large gate-if he’d left a note or just put them behind our back door it would have been fine)
it was sheer chance he’d checked it before putting it out-and I can’t get the smell of ‘bin’ out of the parcels which where clothing
I cannot count the amount of times they’ve not bothered to ring the bell either-it’s sheer chance I’ve seen him through the window
i don’t know how they keep going really

I had an unpleasant experience with a delivery guy yesterday. He was very rude and aggressive. My parcel was due to be delivered on Friday 1st. Unfortunately, I had an emergency and was not available for my delivery. Initially, I received an email to say my parcel had been delivered. The tracking photos was a picture of two white doors, however my parcels were not in the picture. Then later I received a further email to say that I had missed my delivery and another attempt would be made on Saturday.

I was at home on Saturday and the following Monday when I received emails to say that I wasn't at home and had missed my delivery. I already diverted my parcel on Saturday to my neighbour. Finally on Tuesday I received an email to say that my parcel had been delivered to my neighbour. I was at home! I immediately ran out my door to see if I could catch him, luckily I did. He was verbally abusive, aggressive and quite threatening. Had I been a vulnerable and young person, I would have been scared. At one point I thought he was going to attack me. He started shouting at me in his Jamaican accent saying that I haven't been at home on all the occasions he has shown up which is complete and utter nonsense. I have had delivery drivers from Evri leave it outside my door (I live in a flat) after knocking. I don't want it left in my communal hallway because I don't trust all my neighbours and their guests/visitors.

I had a delivery from yodel today and the delivery lady was very polite. She used the intercom, and she gave me my parcels in my hand. Other drivers need to take a leaf out of her book. Picture of his licence plate shown.

I had a message to say I wasn't home and a photo of an unknown gate as proof. They told me to go and have a look in the street to see if I could find the gate, as he had definitely been to my house - despite my desk looking into the front garden and my camera also not showing any visitors.

TealAndTurquoise · 06/07/2022 12:51

Evri were supposed to deliver to me on Friday 1st between 2pm and 4pm. I got a message at 4:30pm saying they'd been unable to deliver and would try on the next working day. The same thing happened on Monday and then yesterday they said they'd tried to deliver but I wasn't in. I was in all day and no way did I miss them. Checked the tracking today and the parcel's not even out for delivery. To be fair, this is the first time I've had trouble with them but the lie that I wasn't in yesterday has annoyed me.

JustDanceAddict · 06/07/2022 13:01

Had one recently when I got notice of delivery but no parcel had arrived. I opened an online dispute and it arrived the next day - so weird!

PuffyMcPuffFace · 27/05/2022 13:22

It's such a shame as some Evri people are really brilliant, like the guy who does our village. I will always choose Evri as I know it's in safe hands with our driver.

@PuffyMcPuffFace So is ours, so much so that I gave him a tip at Christmas.
Perhaps it’s the same guy, young always wears shorts, do you live in the Midlands?

Duttercup · 06/07/2022 13:08

Why are you getting into it with a delivery driver? Just say "sorry, thanks" and go back inside like a normal person.

Whatifitallgoesright · 06/07/2022 13:09

I clicked on this thinking it was about baby names.

SeemsSoUnfair · 06/07/2022 13:17

Our current Hermes delivery driver is a guy I dated a handful of times when I was a teenager and I hadn't seen in 30 years.

He usually does his deliveries after 5pm because he knows people are more likely to be home and it makes his life easier which suits us too, but I could do without the over familiarity and running commentary on my ordering habits so I ask dh to answer the door if I am expecting something.

Yodaisawally · 06/07/2022 13:20

I refuse to buy anything that uses Evri (how much did they pay for that shit rebrand?!) as a carrier.
