I've just come across these on twitter, recommended for ages 1+
The Little People sets I used to buy for my toddlers now come with a Rupaul Drag Race set.

AIBU to say that toys that are drag queens are unsuitable as a toy for toddlers?

Omg. The Pearl clutching. Don't you take your kids to panto? Girl playing lead man, dressed as as fella. Main "dame" Bloke dressed as woman wearing make up & always always sly sexy innuendo & double entendre.

And this is a panto aimed at kids & families.

So what if there is drag Queen toys. So what.

I don't take my kids to panto. Not particularly because of the dame, but because they are generally shit.

These toys are crap IMHO and indeed do look like two women and a bloke with glasses, but they're not aimed at toddlers - it says 1 to 101. Just a way of parting idiots from their money. So I would stop with the pearl-clutching and move on.

If it didn't say what it was on the box I'd have no clue they were supposed to be drag queens. They're just regular dolls.

Never watched Gigglebiz, Let’s play (both on CBeebies) or been to a panto then?

'Expose them'?? FFS. It's a fella in a frock not hardcore porn.

Wtf is wrong with drag? It's been part of performance/theatre culture for decades, probably centuries.

Lol at all the parents trying to pretend the panto dame is a woman so that their precious fucking kid doesn't get gender-confused or turn trans or something.

Sorry, expose has obv come across harder than I meant. Explore work better for you? But if you're sitting talking about clothes choices of strangers and gender identify with a two year old then I'd argue you're exposing them to discussions beyond their developmental stage

Gigglebiz is horrific. Its the only banned show in my house

Panto and drag queens are not the same.

Drag is a misogynistic parodying of women. It is highly sexualised, derogatory and is not for children.

Drag race is a sanitised version for the masses but it perpetuates the same grim sexist stereotypes that exist elsewhere and for that reason I wouldn’t purchase.

tootiredtoocare · 25/05/2022 16:37

It says they also do the Beatles, The Golden Girls, and characters from the Office. I think this is more a collectors' thing, just like Lego minifigures.

Muminabun · 25/05/2022 16:38

I would pass on these for my toddler. Drag is adult entertainment and not suitable for kids. I would view the dolls as woman face much the same as blackface. My sister had a huge gollywog collection when she was a kid. Ok then, not now. Drag dolls are outdated to me and sexist.

Sockpile · 25/05/2022 16:44

Small children would just see a man and two women.

There’s a set of inspiring women too,
Maya Angelou, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks and Sally Ride.

at least they are dressed unlike bratz dolls and some of the other new "style" dolls. one had Fishnet torn tights and a bralette top

StaunchMomma · 25/05/2022 16:54

I'd have to seriously reach to be offended by the toy.

I do think it's weird that people let their kids watch Drag Race or go to the shows, though. I personally love the show but there's quite a lot of swearing and/or sex based jokes. Not really for kids, IMO.

Femalewoman · 25/05/2022 17:00

Pushing the trans agenda for years. Normalise men thinking/dressing believing they are women. Change your gender every day now and call the biological women bleeders, menstruators, cervix havers or CIS and we are supposed to roll over.... and have done so for years.

DragRaceFan · 25/05/2022 17:17

Haha I saw these and got them for my baby b/g twins. 😆 Now when I say, "You want your little RuPauls?" they have just a precious reaction! It's their first of the Little People collection from Fisher-Price.

A Drag Race tie in suggests it’s really aimed at parents who want to demonstrate how cool they are. Not something I’d buy as I’m not a total dickhead.
