To quit my job?

I've been doing my current job for a year and have not liked it for the majority of that. My line manager is very hard work (and fairly small business so can't change). There is a lot of pressure, most weeks I work 50+ hours and still he expects to pile more work on me.

I've got two other job offers but on lower pay (20% pay cut). At the moment I don't sleep well due to work stress, headaches, dread going to work. The only thing stopping me quitting is the slightly lower pay elsewhere, I'm a single parent so don't want to let my kids down (less holidays etc)

Absolutely move jobs. It’s not worth the stress.

Nb I've tried to improve things with the manager, explain about workload etc but he's known to be v unreasonable and a bully.

Move jobs. Your kids need you happy, healthy and available more than they need expensive things.

Keep job hunting? Salaries seem to be very buoyant at the moment - not sure you need to take such a steep paycut but yes you clearly need a change!

Totally agree with this. I would move jobs and cut back on holidays. Be happy 💐

Life is too short and the stress isn't doing your health any good. Quit and go be happy.

I am hating my job, it's keeping me awake at night. Considering throwing that in but keep trying to find something else.

Move jobs. I took a pay cut to change career - definitely worth it. Once you are in a better work environment, you can channel your energy into optimising your bills to save some money or doing some additional reading/training to upskill (eg for promotion or whatever).

Or spend time with your kids. The kids won’t need to go places for holidays - but they will notice the difference if you have more time and energy for them.
