Double standards from agency

You are not permitted to cancel shifts you've been booked for more than 3 times in a 6 month period or you're suspended.
However, more than twice now I've had my shift cancelled at last minute by them, a couple of hours before the shift and received zero pay even though it was short notice.
Is this commonplace for agencies?
Just gets a bit frustrating how it's one sided.

If this is community care, when I worked if a shift was cancelled with less than 6 hours (around that) notice, you would get paid.

You should get paid for a short notice cancellation as the service user still has to pay in this instance. So your cancelled shift is still being paid for

I worked in Community Care for 4 years when I went back to Uni as a (v) mature student and they were fuckers for trying to fleece you. I was a lot older though so wouldn't accept it but what some of the young girls put up with was shocking

The other way around, not sure about as I never came across that. I'd have been constantly disciplined if that were the case

It is in care homes through an agency. I also do community care and luckily do get paid for short notice cancellations.

This is frustrating and if it happens much more I'll look at other agencies
