… on the first day on my period? 😂

I know I know, there’s plenty of more painful things we get to experience in life, and I’ve been dealing with this every month for the majority of my life but it still takes me off guard how vile I feel in the first few hrs!

I’m stuck at work with no painkillers and my lower abdomen and inner tights are cramping. Feel sick to my stomach and all I want to do is be at home, on my sofa with a hot water bottle and large bowl of salt & vinegar chips.

Oh well, just need to power through. 😅

I wish we could opt out of parts of womanhood.

I’ve got my tubes tied, this uterus is excess to requirement!

Lavenderlast · 24/05/2022 12:34

Yanbu ☹️

I had a cramping period once when I was a teenager where I couldn’t stand for ten minutes, had to sit on the kerb and breathe through the pain until it suddenly stopped. I’ve given birth without pain relief and for those ten minutes the pain was similar. Never had such a bad one again but bodies are weird and being female is certainly the short straw.

Sorry you're feeling shit.

And no, we can't identify out of it. And no, we are not demonstrating some sort of privilege by talking about it.

No. My brother told me that we were lucky because we only had periods once a month. However he, poor lamb, had to shave every single day which could be painful if he cut himself and there was blood then too, so men are far worse off than women

What a tit.

I used to have very painful periods every single month. I really hated it and used to long for when my periods would finally be over permanently. Plus people telling me that having a baby would sort them out. I didn't want to have any babies, though! I had my final (painful) period at 51 and was so glad they were over. But then almost immediately I hurt my lower back. I had pain every day from that injury for many years, sometimes excrutiating spasms. I wanted to trade that injury for going back to 'only' pain for a few days every month! So really, you never know in life, and although it sucks to have period pain, there are also worse things.

Where'd you hide the body?

InstaHun88 · 24/05/2022 13:28

I hear you. I got the Mirena coil 6 months ago. No more periods. Life changing.

Onlyhuman123 · 24/05/2022 13:51

oh I agree; it's so rubbish sometimes.

When I was younger, I'd think 'I can't wait for my periods to be over with, when I go through the menopause'.

All I say to myself now...as I'm going through the menopause...is be careful what you wish for! 😂Cos that's a load of shit too!! 😆💩

YANBU
I've had a cracking migraine all day (day 1), the kind where I can't move, I'm in sunglasses with the curtains closed (luckily my day off), and I'm necking ibuprofen as regularly as I'm allowed.

Days leading up to my period it feels like I'm carrying ten water balloons tied around my waist and hips. Makes my back ache when I walk for more than 10 minutes.

I also get an inflammatory condition called hidradenitis suppurativa that gets a lot worse the week before my period, and it's bloody painful.

Not to mention the mess, inconvenience, expense, the cramps.... hate how period product advertisements glamorise periods. Not a chance I feel sexy or feminine or up for roller blading - not whilst nursing a migraine, abscesses (HS) and feel like the size of a whale.
