Just out of interest as everytime I tell people (parents and non parents) the time my kids wake up, they seem really shocked! My LOs are just very routined and go to bed super early but I actually prefer this as it gives me the evening free.
4 year old and 19 month old wake up around 6am. 19 month old can sometimes wake up 5.30ish am which can be tough but after 6am I just get on with it. Not a had a lie in past 7am in a long time 🤣

Really? That sounds about standard to me.

NamechangeFML · 22/05/2022 08:45

14 months goes down at 7pm , up at 3 for a breast feed and then 6, properly up about 7:30/8am

Theendofspring · 22/05/2022 08:45

5:50 at the moment - it is a bit exhausting as he doesn’t sleep through either.

JustHereWithPopcorn · 22/05/2022 08:46

3.5 years old, bed at 7pm wakes at 7-7:30am ish

luxxlisbon · 22/05/2022 08:47

People seem shocked your young kids wake at 6am or before? Who are you telling?
The majority of kids go through phases of early rising. My baby wake as about 8:30 at the minute but 5:30 is totally normal.

OwlinaTree · 22/05/2022 08:48

I have 8yo and 5yo. We have to wake then for school. They have to stay in bed until 7:30 at the weekend. Sometimes they sleep until 8 but they are usually up at 7:30. They've been this way pretty much since preschool.

At 19 months type age we would accept any wake up after 6, but pre 6 we would try to get them to go back to sleep.

DashboardConfessional · 22/05/2022 08:48

Most parents I know, it's between 5.30 and 6.30. Ds is fairly regular at 6.50-7.10. He was awake 3 to 5 last night and still woke up at half 6.

Macbeth8 · 22/05/2022 08:49

Yes have a lot of comments from people saying that I should work on sleep as its way top early
Glad to know its not just mine

7ish. But they are night owls compared to most kids. DD2 used to get up about 8 when she still had a day time nap. I don’t care about a lay in I just want a full nights sleep and I would be happy.

AliceW89 · 22/05/2022 08:51

2 year old is around 7am. But he doesn’t go to sleep until 8pm in the evening. We get up at 6am and need that time before he is up to get sorted for work. I think 10-11h is pretty standard overnight - as you say, you need to decide if time in the evening or the morning is more important!

lancsgirl85 · 22/05/2022 08:51

I had a thread about this the other day.
My 13 month old wakes up anywhere between 5.30-6am. But she does sleep through most nights so we are lucky in that respect. Some nights she doesn't sleep through and she's up between 3-4 (usually takes the full hour or sometimes longer to settle her back down) - on those nights she's up for the day about 7.30/8. But the trade off for this lie in is being awake between 3-4 faffing about trying to settle her. So, swings and roundabouts!

Natsku · 22/05/2022 08:52

I usually have to wake my 4 year old up at 7 to get up for nursery though sometimes he's awake already. He usually wakes between half 7 and 8 on weekends (though sleep clock is set to wake up at 8:30 so he just plays quietly until then, thankfully - because he wakes up quite a bit in the night so I'm exhausted in the mornings and need that little lie in!)

SecondhandTable · 22/05/2022 08:52

DC1 is nearly 4, hit and miss and wakes up anywhere between 6.30 and 9am. most days it's around 7.30am though. She's usually asleep by around 8pm.

DC2 is 7 months and doesn't really 'wake for the day' because he's a terrible sleeper, still has two night feeds (once of which is usually about 5 or 6am so technically the morning so it's hit and miss whether he sleeps after or not), and he's often woke up prematurely by DC1. His 'day' therefore starts anywhere from 5am to like 8.30am really.

Lazypuppy · 22/05/2022 08:53

Always between 7-8 ever since she was 2ish. If she was waking that early i would definitely be doing a later bedtime.

On the odd time DD wakes up before 7am , she's 4yo, we give hrr a snack and her kindle and she goes back and is quiet in her room for another hour or so

Macbeth8 · 22/05/2022 08:53

Oh yes forgot to say they both sleep through always have done from a young age arpund 11/12 hours so maybe that makes all the difference

So I’m guessing they have a bedtime around about 6-6:30pm then? For a lot of people that would be to early (especially with the 5:30am start!) but if it works for your family then crack on! X

DashboardConfessional · 22/05/2022 09:02

Yes I didn't mention that DS goes to sleep at about 8pm on a normal day and 8.30pm when he's had a nap at nursery!

Sickoffamilydrama · 22/05/2022 09:11

Don't even worry about it OP we have three and two of them are early risers always have been even at 14 DD is often up at 6/6.30 the other day it was 5.45.

Doesn't matter if you put them to bed later for weeks all that happens is a tired grumpy child, who still wakes up early.

DS is 6 and is still waking up at about 5.30 soon we'll start sending him down by himself but he's still a bit of a liability so not until we know he's safe.

glamourousindierockandroll · 22/05/2022 09:14

My 5yo gets up around 7.30am and generally wakes up the 2yo. When my eldest is sleeping at grandparents, the 2yo will often sleep until after 9 without her human alarm clock. They both go to bed around 7.30pm. I feel very lucky!

Lockeddownagain · 22/05/2022 09:22

My almost 9year old is up every day with the lark 6am and she wakes me every day also she's supposed to wait till 7. She didn't sleep one night through till she was 5
