Would this annoy you?

it’s cost us £372 as it’s William Morris, it’s supposed to be a black out blind but it seems too short!

first world problems I know!

It looks like the bottom section hasn't completely unfolded, is it caught up on something at the back?

Report

It doesn't look as if you have let the whole length out there is still a fold at the bottom

Report
Fuzzyheid · 20/05/2022 13:20

If it's completely down, it would be flat, not have a fold like that. Maybe the cords have been tied off too short? It looks like there should be enough fabric there.

Too right it would.

What dimensions did you give?

Report
Slavetolove · 20/05/2022 13:24

I didn’t give the dimensions, they came out and did it themselves, I thought that but I’m not sure how to make it longer lol

I'd get them back to fix it. If ots just the cords, it's not a big job, but it's their mistake not yours. Send them the photo and ask them to come back and rectify it. I bet the blind is long enough, it's the cords they've cut short.

If they measured then call them or send photo. It doesn't sit right at the bottom and therefore not black out.

Doesn't look fully unfolded. Sometimes they need a wiggle to get that last bit down.

If you can't get it to unfold ask them to come take a look. Thankfully they took the measurements so they shouldn't quibble about a correction if necessary.

Nice blind.

Lovely blind - but I agree with PP the cords on the back of the blind are too short, not the blind itself. Have you looked at the back to see if the cords are caught on anything?

Report
Serenity45 · 20/05/2022 14:51

As PPs have said - sounds really obvious but have you checked it's not caught on window catch / handle at the back? We have the same style of blind in our lounge and need to hold the bottom bit out slightly to make sure it goes over the window handle which is right at the bottom of the frame.

I can't see the bottom section

the top will let in light unless you cover over surrounding parts of window, which they should have told you.

Fixed it! Untied the cords at the back and retied them, I think they tied them too short!

It’s still not a black out blind, too much light coming in the top. We had this issue with a roller black out blind. We got the cassette blind fitted which is proper blackout, properly covers the window.

I don’t know if it’s “settled” more but it does seem to be more black out now! X

I see you fixed it, OP, but……£372? Was that for one blind?

Gulp.

it’s nice but doesn’t seem to be functioning as a blackout blind even around the top and sides

I’d be more irritated that its horrible

Report
Slavetolove · 22/05/2022 01:15

how is it horrible? 🙄

I can't see how a black out blind in a recess can ever be blackout when you factor in fixtures. It has to be exact to the outer wall to work.

Curtain and blind measurements stress me out. I've been in my current house for two years and it's a total guessing game, unless you give the responsibility to someone else 😆

Rude 🙄

The only way you'll get complete darkness with a blackout is if it's fitted outside the recess.
