To think this isn't chicken pox?

Daughter (8) been complaining of feeling itchy past few days. 2 spots appeared which were itching her. I gave her some antihistamine this morning and she said it took the itch away for a few hours

This afternoon the school phoned saying she needed collected as they think she has chicken pox. 6 more spots have appeared 2 on her finger, 2 on her tummy and 2 on her leg. However she is absolutely fine, not feeling ill.

I took her to the chemist and they said they think it's chicken pox but can't be 100 percent certain.

I have attached photos. They don't look like chicken pox to me? AIBU?

Looks like chicken pox to me. Maybe keep her indoors for a couple of days until you are certain one way or the other. CP is very dangerous for immunosupressed.

The only other possibility bug bites - but bug bites are usually limited to one area and do not have that bubble look to them.

The ones on the tummy do look like chickenpox to me.

Flumo · 18/05/2022 14:02

My sons looked like this.

FourTeaFallOut · 18/05/2022 14:06

Looks like it could be the beginning of chicken pox to me. She should try and isolate now, it's really contagious at the beginning.

MiseryWIthAStent · 18/05/2022 14:11

I think chicken pox too

Justme10 · 18/05/2022 14:14

Looks like how my DS started a couple of months ago, he slowly got a couple new ones everyday that looked like that.
He wasn't unwell either, just spots for him.

CoodleMoodle · 18/05/2022 14:19

Looks like chicken pox to me too, OP.

My DS has just got over it and DD is currently suffering. DS3 had lots of spots that came up suddenly, but not even a temperature or a single itch.

DD8 has even more spots, had a temp and was tired, and itchy. We're on day 7 and she's feeling fine now.

I agree chicken pox.

Fedupbuyer · 18/05/2022 14:31

That’s the beginning of chickenpox they will get worse in a couple of days.

packedlunches · 18/05/2022 14:31

Exactly how both my kids started. Then it got way worse (sorry).

cringeandbinge · 18/05/2022 14:45

Should I confirm with GP?

My son's started like this and only started itching after 3-4 days.

FourTeaFallOut · 18/05/2022 14:51

Chicken pox isn't a notifiable illness, don't go to the gp unless she is poorly enough to need medical help.

Okay I won't, wasn't sure if it needed confirmed or not. Just worried that it's something else and she's missing days of school because of it.

It's probably chicken pox. It'll be obvious in a day or two. You don't need to get it confirmed but you should take her anywhere you don't absolutely need to because whereas it's typically uncomfortable but ultimately harmless for otherwise well children it is devastating to people with immune suppression.

FourTeaFallOut · 18/05/2022 14:57

Shouldn't, obviously
