Is it unreasonable to lie about lateral flows?

If a person was unwell and had been for some time and wasn't getting better (issues with their throat, possible tonsillitis) and the GP asks them to take a lateral flow before visiting, is it unreasonable for them to lie and say they have when they haven't due to cost and needing to see the Dr asap.

No it’s not unreasonable. Trying to see a GP is an extreme sport at the moment we have to do what we can.

Everyone saying ‘you could spread an infectious illness to the GP & others’ needs to give their head a wobble, covid is not the 1st ever infectious illness - plus I imagine most GP’s will have had the vaccine so will be fine!

Person whose job is to diagnose sick and possibly infectious people refusing to see people who appear to be ill. Why on Earth are people putting up with this?

Prior to 2020, did GPs insist that your were not showing signs of illness before being seen?

When I were a young 'un, the doctors consisted of two rooms. A waiting room and the consultation room. If you were ill, you went to the docs and just sat in the waiting room (no appointments or receptionists) next to all the other ill people and asked the room who was last. Often the waiting room door opened and someone popped their head round. If they were not ill enough to wait, they went away again. When the GP was free, a bell rung in the waiting room and the patient then walked through the adjoining door. The only staff member there was the GP and the whole system worked like a charm.

100% this!

I was asked to 'do a LFT' before a routine GP visit. I said OK.

When I got there - No one asked for the result or if I'd even actually done one.

I don't think it's at all unreasonable OP and would do the same.

Of course it is - only a mentalist would think it wasn't. Tests are £1.75 in savers so god knows where people get £15 from.

Not everyone on here lives in the same place, maybe, you know they got that from the price list where they live

How do you not know that that not everyone lives where you do?

You can get free tests online if a GP has recommended you take one.

Of course it’s unreasonable to lie. They are needed because although all patients can be seen, if you’re positive for covid there’s a different process in place (ie waiting in car at my surgery and they phone when you can come in instead of sitting in the waiting room). If you can’t or won’t take one then tell them, but don’t lie.
also it could affect your medical care, if you had covid you may need different treatment/things checking to if you didn’t.
