Commute costs - relieved at wfh

I put some fuel in my car yesterday (£30) as I was travelling into the office. I go into the office once a week and wfh the rest of the week. It literally filled a quarter of my tank. I drove to work and back today (20 mile round trip) took my son to his activity and the fuel has gone. I am so relieved to wfh rest of the week as would really struggle paying the commute costs now.

Anyone else? Do you think fuel prices will come down?

Yes I feel the same. I’m 100% wfh and my contract says my home is my place of work. Some on times I go into the office which is about an hour’s drive to provide training - I keep thinking I should claim mileage expense - at first that seemed cheeky but now I am thinking next time I will as my last trip was painfully expensive!

No, fuel prices would only go up. I am glad I live in London and can use public transport. My fares would probably increase though but as I live in zone 3, hopefully not by much.

I just bought a small cheap car. It works out cheaper to have a small loan and pay fuel on this more efficient car than to pay fuel for commuting in my Volvo. I've kept the Volvo as we tow a caravan for holidays but will be taking that away less as its so expensive to get there! Sucks but needs must!
