Doing an a level at home is about 800/900 pounds then a degree is like 9k plus per year

Yes, it is bad. Corbyn wanted to set up a national lifelong education service. Got rejected at the polls!

The OU started off as a fairly cheap way of going onto further education but now seems to be similar in cost to Mainstream universities.

It really is a shame. I’m currently doing a masters degree in Germany and it costs €200 total, that’s for the two years. Then you also pay something like €35 a month for a student transport card, but it covers trains and buses in the whole state.

I did a bachelor’s degree in England and I don’t regret it because it was the right decision at the time, but I could’ve had the same quality of education for free somewhere else (in my area of study at least).

I have many colleagues who couldn’t afford to do any postgrad studies in the UK and it’s a necessity in our industry. They’re now sadly in less significant jobs compared to their talent, simply because they didn’t have £20k + expenses to spend on a masters degree.
