Not sure why friend took offence to this?

A friend is really into women's boxing, and attends the sessions a couple of times a week.
It's good for her but not something that interests me at all.
She asked me if I wanted to sign up and I said "thanks, but it's not for me sorry."
She said "What do you mean it's not for you?! It's for everyone!"
Then she said she'd been telling her trainer how it's "such a shame" that more women don't do it.
It's great she's so passionate about it but surely I'm allowed to not like a sport if I want? It doesn't appeal whatsoever to me.

In your quote maybe?

Where is the horrified tone here?

In your quote maybe? She sounds a bit hysterical.

Have you seen the new Marvel film?
Somewhere in the Multiverse I guess the boxer used a horrified tone.
Not in this one 🤣

More reaching. You don’t know that she was horrified, and you don’t know that she has a chip on her shoulder. Unless you’re a sock puppet?

Not a sock puppet 😂. I’m sure MN could confirm if you wanted them to.

Is that what you say to all posters you disagree with?

LaMarschallin · 13/05/2022 12:21

She said "What do you mean it's not for you?! It's for everyone!"

Maybe the implication of tone is taken from the punctuation?
If it had been written "She said 'What do mean it's not for you? It's for everyone.'" the statement would have been perceived differently.

LaMarschallin · 13/05/2022 12:22

Meant to add a "perhaps" at the end.

WalkWithDignityAndPride · 13/05/2022 12:23

She may enjoy getting fisted in the ring, but most wouldn't.

GeneralSalute · 13/05/2022 13:07

It was a miscommunication.
You said 'it's not for me.'
You meant 'I wouldn't want to do that' (as politely as possible)
She heard 'I don't think it would be welcoming to me/someone like me.'

No, I receive it for posters that say that the OP has said something that they haven’t 🤷🏻‍♀️
Nothing OP said suggested her friend had a chip on her shoulder.
Nothing OP said suggested her friend’s tone was horrified.

You could always just gracefully accept that you’ve created a scenario here that the OP hasn’t described? 🤣

Nothing unreasonable. I have no idea why more women not wanting to be punched in the face or punch others is a bad thing. I find it tacky.

Call me crazy but I don’t want to be Mike Tyson in a dress.

It's not your thing, you don't have to be an asshole about it though.
