To tell my manager my job is too easy

About 4 months ago I started a new job, and before I started I was really worried I wouldn't be good enough. On paper, it was a step up from my previous role. I was genuinely feeling sick with anxiety.

But in reality, the role is less senior, involves less responsibility, and requires a lower level of expertise than my old job. Everyone seems surprised by how quickly I've picked everything up and that I've been confident and involved in workshops and meetings etc from the start (I'm actually quite shy and introverted and have to try hard at work).

I have weekly check-ins with my line manager, and they're always asking me how I'm getting on, am I finding everything OK, etc, in a way that sounds like they think I should be struggling or something? Should I say I'm finding it a bit... easy? (Obviously I won't say easy!) I have a feeling it might be seen as a bit arrogant or pushy though? My line manager is nice, but also strikes me as a bit judgy. To be honest I wish I'd applied for the more senior role that was advertised at the time, but thought that was out of my league.

Why not ask for a meeting with your line manager and say you believe you’ve picked up the role and would like to take on more complex tasks? Suggest what you’d feel comfortable doing and see what they say. They’re already impressed with your work. You don’t have to tell them you already knew how to do it, just let your work right now speak for itself. They’d probably be impressed with your initiative.
