Time off for interviews

I was unsuccessful in gaining a promotion for a role that I have been acting, in my current workplace and in my feedback was told I was in a good position to apply elsewhere to take on a similar role.

I've been for two interviews and been unsuccessful in both.

AIBU to keep applying for vacancies and ask for more time off if shortlisted for another, or will my boss think I've had enough chances now?

How long is reasonable to keep trying having being knocked back for a permanent step up?

Just to be clear, you mean you're applying for external jobs and wanting time off for interviews for them?

Yes, I work in a school, so the references are requested before interview (so my boss knows I've applied anyway) and they take place during the school day, to allow sample lessons etc. This means a day out of class and the cost of cover.

YANBU. Posters who aren't teachers might not be aware of this, but it is totally normal in schools to be open about applying for external jobs, and there is no way of avoiding having tome iff for interviews, since interviews take place in school hours and teachers don't ever get leave during school hours.

I'm late back to your reply but, given the sector/role, I don't think YABU.

Best of luck with your job search.
