Are you putting money away to help with the further expected rise in cost of living?

Name changed for this. As above really are you putting extra money away now out of your monthly budgets to cover the forecasted extra costs in fuel, food, petrol and everything we are due to see in the autumn? I am curious after a conversation with dh last night where we discussed doing this.

How long are the price rises meant to stay for? Is there any talk of when they may come down a bit or is it a case of once they are higher they will stay there? I think we will just about be ok next winter with some changes but not too sure about the year after.

This level of inflation can't be maintained long term. The Bank of England thinks that we'll be back to 2% inflation in two years ( or it did last week in any case), but that some things will remain expensive even then and whether or not that will be a problem will depend on wage growth (or not) over that time.

It’s a good question OP. I’ve also wanted to ask if people had thought about ways to increase family income.

I’ve a huge amount of respect for a friend who looked at her income, then applied for and got a new job, purely due to cost of living increases. So far loving new role.

Sensible suggestion, but many won’t be able to afford it, including us. We start getting some free hours for DS at nursery in the autumn - thank goodness as we really need the extra money.
