Been in hospital for an operation - general anathestic and on an IV drip for 4 days.

Have been working hard to lose lockdown weight but I returned home this evening and am 12 pounds heavier than when I went in. Granted I have barely moved and some of it might be water wait but is this normal?!

Water. Keep drinking fluids (sounds mad but it will help you get rid of what you're retaining), rest, sleep. If you struggle to pee contact your GP asap. Hope you're much better soon.

You've been on an IV. This is a lot of additional fluids. Plus the inflammation post op, your body is injured and trying to heal itself.

I mean this kindly, but it's a bit concerning that one of the first things you did after getting home from an operation and a hospital stay is weigh yourself. Sure you've been working hard at weight loss but this is not the moment to spring straight back into it. Your body needs to rest and heal. Please nourish it and be kind to yourself. There are more important things than a number on the scale.
