What’s everyone doing to reduce their electric bill

We’ve adopted big ugly dressing gowns in the house and are trying to do multiple things at once in the oven (like adding jacket potatoes if we’re cooking a pasta bake)

any ideas?

Turn everything off

Ours is horrific . We had issues 2 years ago to the point I thought the smart meter was faulty as was new. Soon as it was installed bills through the roof…..
begged Bgas to check it, they refused multiple times. Tried to complain they ignored. Went to ombudsman who couldn’t help as I hadn’t been through b gas complaint procedure …….

got fed up and switched. Had 2.5 amazing years paying an ok amount and In credit !!!

company stopped trading and we got sent back to B gas……..bills HUGE again

they said that actually the 2 diff companies had undercharged ……

now they want £400 per month

Buying a remoska and using it for most of my cooking has really reduced my bills. Electric bills have actually reduced from around £400 to approximately £230-£300 per quarter.
Nothing else has changed and my provider has put up their charges by about 30% in that period.

Nothing. I was already careful with my usage and putting on the heating without wearing a dressing down I’ve always thought was indulgent.

Ill just do the same as I’ve always done and I’ll have to suck up the new prices as I’m not going cold for no fucker !!!

What is your AIBU?

I have moved into summer mainly. I appreciate I can't keep that up for the whole year 😬

Other things are, turning everything off I can, stopped charging things overnight, use the economy setting on the dishwasher and mostly wash clothes at 30°. Also use the standard oven much less than the microwave combi oven.

For some reason - and I hesitate to say it - Octopus have not put mine up yet. Certainly not counting my chickens though, and my LPG gas cylinders now cost 40% more than they did a year ago (not on mains gas).
