To say that butter is basically young cheese?

DD (5) loves butter on her toast so I spread a thick layer, maybe the thickness of a 2p coin. She loves it.

Cue DH whinging, saying it's bad etc.

Aibu to think it's fine, basically like cheese? Good fat, bit of protein etc

Cheese is a kind of meat
A tasty yellow beef?

Pure butter is best, imo. I keep a small amount in a butter dish each day, so it's spreadable. I'd rather have a thin layer of real butter than any amount of 'buttery spread' or whatever the alternatives are.

Butter and cheeses are in totally different food groups as they provide totally different nutrients.
One is almost pure fat
one has protein, calcium, and some fat.

they cannot be switched for each other for nutrients

both taste delicious and you are right about that

They are totally different foods with totally different macronutrient contents. Cheese is going to offer more protein, calcium and good bacteria than butter which offers more calories and fat.

However real butter (not the spreadable stuff with added oil) is much healthier than fake spreads.
