Tea tree oil for an infected c section? Or any infection really? I've got antibiotics but Im looking for something topical to try and relieve the redness and oozing Envy

Have you tried it and did it work? If so did you dilute it in the bath or apply directly to the wound?

That will sting!

motherclucker44 · 11/05/2022 18:46

I can stand the sting if it works 🙈

No! If it’s infected and you have antibiotics just take the meds, keep the wound clean and dry and expose it to the fresh air when you can.

I used the Dettol soap bars when it looked like it was starting to get infected and that seemed to work.

Merryoldgoat · 11/05/2022 19:18

Have you got antibiotics? That’s the first thing.

Diluted dettol is very good in my experience.

motherclucker44 · 11/05/2022 19:26

Yes I have antibiotics. I had read that drops of tea tree oil in the bath can help speed up healing as it has antibacterial properties.

I have to caveat that I haven’t had a c section, but I use tea tree and lavender all the time for minor cuts and wounds. I would dilute it though, in the bath if you’re allowed to bathe, or in a carrier oil such as sweet almond or olive at a pinch. I wouldn’t use it undiluted on something as big (and painful!) as what I imagine you have!

Runmybathforme · 11/05/2022 19:33

Please don't put anything like this on the wound. As someone else has said, just keep the wound clean with ordinary tap water and keep it dry. If it's oozing, see your practice nurse for an appropriate dressing. Keep away from the Dettol !!!!!

Hi, I'm sorry you've an infection in the CS incision...as if you need another thing to worry aboutFlowers

I would recommend any of the Medi-Honey products...you can get ointment or an actual bandage that is infused with the honey. It is manuka honey from the tea tree. I've attached two photos because I don't know how to do links.
This stuff is a miracle cure!

I found out about this amazing product when a friend had a bedsore that was almost to the bone...grim! The doctor said it would take about 2 months to heal...but with the medi honey infused bandage it healed in less than 2 weeks...it was a true miracle
Hope you are feeling better soon, OP.

Wtf no no no!! Your doc can give you antibacterial cream for the outside as well as the antibiotics you're taking orally. Call the docs in the morning. And I've had 2 infected c section wounds.

Ok just wondering why 🙈
It's just that it's meant to be a natural antibacterial/anti inflammatory so presuming even if it's not particularly effective it's not going to be harmful.
I will hold off though we don't want to aggravate things even more.

Just no. Get the proper cream. Don't make things worse.
