Is it a bit selfish to have a Sunday night party?

I'm in a semi and my neighbours have decided to have a family party with loud music. They started at 4.30pm, fine, but now they are still going at 11pm. We have work and school tomorrow. Worse thing is they have a firepit going which in my opinion is too close to the back door. I'm going to find it hard to sleep with the thought of the fire and the music. I keep worrying that they'll forget to put the fire out as they are quite pissed. Equally I don't want to be the killjoy neighbour. Wwyd? I'm definitely going to be closing the front door assertively on the school run tomorrow.

I think it's fine so long as they're not too noisy after 11.

Crocsandshocks · 08/05/2022 23:08

Thanks. I think it's the fire near the back door that's scaring me.

Omg. Exactly the same. We're about to knock. No fire in the back but loud music next door.

Crocsandshocks · 08/05/2022 23:12

@DorothyZbornakIsAQueen you're beaver than me. Let me know how it goes

Well why not? Some people on here seem to think it's OK to have screaming toddlers in the garden at 8.30am on a weekend morning. So a loud party into the early hours should be fine too!

Crocsandshocks · 08/05/2022 23:12

Seems like some people don't have jobs to go to!

I couldn't imagine getting pissed late on a Sunday night

They can do whatever up until 11pm.
Not everyone works Mon-Fri.

IstayedForTheFeminism · 08/05/2022 23:19

I think having a loud party past 11pm on any day is selfish.

But please don't assume people don't have jobs to go to. I used to work shifts so my "weekend" could easily be midweek and I'd be out the house by 6am at the weekend.

Crocsandshocks · 08/05/2022 23:21

Past 11pm and they are still going. Selfish twats.

My neighbours do work shifts. Dd came down to say she couldn't sleep, so I pulled up my big girl knickers and knocked.

I just said sorry to be a moaning neighbour, but dd can't get to sleep.

Neighbour was surprised we could hear the music. Apologised and music has been turned either off or down a lot.

quietnightmare · 08/05/2022 23:29

If your genuinely concerned about fire issue should you call the fire station?

That's not actually true. Anti social behaviour can be any time of the day or night.

OP you can contact the council's ASB or environmental health team. The council website should have details how to do this.

This idea of 'you can do anything you like, no matter how miserable it makes someone elses life, as long as it's before 11pm and no one has any right to complain otherwise' is so factually incorrect and just downright selfish.

spotcheck · 09/05/2022 00:05

Just knock and ask if they can keep it down.

NotMushroomInEre · 09/05/2022 00:05

Their fire will not set your house on fire, for that reason you are being unnecessarily worried.

NotMushroomInEre · 09/05/2022 00:07

*worried unnecessarily

AlasEarwacs · 09/05/2022 00:34

Would people really call environmental health for 1 party instead of asking their neighbours? I meant Eh is going to do f all for one party
