Abnormal ECG result. Anyone else had this?

I’ve recently had a few health checks. No particular symptoms just the GP deciding I’ve been on HRT for a few years and hadn’t had any done in that time.

Everything came back fine apart from the ECG which showed ‘delayed electrical activity’. The GP didn’t seem that bothered by it but having showed the tests results to the cardiac clinic they now want to see me for further tests.

has anyone else had this? I’ve no symptoms and feel fine (well I did until the GP told me the results and now I’m convincing myself I have chest pains!!!)

I’ve looked online and can’t seem to find much about it.

Did it have a more technical term to identify the delay?

If the cardiac team want to follow up, there'll be a reason, and always better safe than sorry. (Personal experience here)

Im glad you are being seen, but that is a very general term and doesnt describe anything specific.

in the meantime, take some magnesium supplements daily. Most people are deficient and it is essential for good heart rhythm

Thanks for replying. This is all my GP told me so I guess I’m going to have to wait until I get an appointment.with the cardiac clinic

thanks for the tip on magnesium I will definitely get some today

Don't take supplements. You don't know what the problem is yet.

Firstly, stay away from the internet, no good can ever come from going there, and most information is outdated and full of terrifying (and now inaccurate) prognoses.

Secondly, absolutely do not take any supplements as you don’t know what the problem is and an increased magnesium level can actually be harmful if you’re not deficient.

If the cardiac clinic want to see you then they will do more tests to look for conditions such as cardiomyopathy etc. This doesn’t mean you have one of these conditions, but they have to be sure.

I would just wait for the appointment and see what they say.

Several serious heart conditions here so I have an intimate relationship with cardiac services…

Absolutely this!

no experience of that condition, but the nurse at my GP told me I had an enlarged heart when I was 40. She was interpreting routine ECG. I spent 6 weeks in absolute bits. After a more detailed scan at the hospital, they told me I was absolutely fine. So try not to worry until you have the more detailed test.

Noted on the supplements, thanks for the advice.

im just hoping I don’t have to wait to long for an appointment.
