Not sure what this is on my toe?

I've had it for a few weeks now.
It started when I wore some ill fitting shoes and it got a bit sore, but now I've bought good quality shoes and still have this mark on my toe.
It's not hard to the touch, and almost seems like a dent in my toe.
The pain is intense, I'm on my feet a lot for my job and after a few hours I've had to take off my shoe as the pain is too much. It's an instant relief, and the toe never hurts when I'm barefoot.
I've bought some different plasters etc. Which have helped a bit but it's still there.
Never had this before and it's really getting me down as I'm in pain every day nearly with it. Anyone had something like this?

Looks like a verruca to me

InChocolateWeTrust · 08/05/2022 22:07

Really bad/big verruca

RosesAndHellebores · 08/05/2022 22:09

Looks more like a corn to me. Whether corn or verruca, you need tonsee a chiropodist.

Cheeseontoast32 · 08/05/2022 22:10

It really hurts when I press it too

I'll have a look at chiropodists. Hopefully not too expensive!

I think it looks like a corn, see a chiropodist.

TheOriginalEmu · 08/05/2022 22:21

Yeah I think a corn. You can buy corn plasters to help with the pressure/pain until you see a podiatrist/chiropodist.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 08/05/2022 22:27

It’s a corn.

A podiatrist will cut it out.

In the meantime be kind to your feet. Moisturise and wear crocs or similar.

Cheeseontoast32 · 08/05/2022 22:29

There's no raised area to it, more of a dent.
Looked at chiropodists, can get an appointment tomorrow morning, but for £45.
Should I be able to find cheaper than this?

I work in nursing homes so often on my feet for 12 hour shifts which really isn't helping. End up walking around the home with the shoe half on.

OP posts:
TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 08/05/2022 22:30

£45 is about right.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 08/05/2022 22:30

I used to work in nursing homes. Seriously, crocs.

Cheeseontoast32 · 08/05/2022 22:32

I've got to pay £55 for a private dental check up too as nobody taking on NHS patients. £100 gone just like that :(

Do any of your the nursing homes ever get a chiropodist visiting? One of my friends is a chiropodist and her bread and butter is daycare and nursing/care home visits.

RosesAndHellebores · 08/05/2022 23:09

Never mind @Cheeseontoast32 when dd developed mh issues aged 15/16 it cost me £6k. At least the NHS has been honest about dentistry, opticians, chiropody, etc.

Hilites · 08/05/2022 23:11

I thought you could remove corns at home? Op google it! The plasters even say they help remove them

Hilites · 08/05/2022 23:11

That made me sound feisty! I promise I wasn’t being feisty 🤣

Joolsin · 08/05/2022 23:16

It's a corn, DD and DH get them a lot. Buy Carnation corn plasters and follow the instructions and you can get rid of it yourself. It will be gross, through!!

ChloeHel · 08/05/2022 23:20

That is a corn. DH had two terrible ones on his feet! We used the scholl treatments. It took a few weeks and you have to do it daily but it did eventually work.

Thanks for all the replies! For now the skin on top has just come off, looks kinda red underneath
