Hello,

I'm just wondering the following.....

  1. If you exercise regularly - how often? How many calories do you aim to burn over how long?
  1. If you don't use calories as a way of keeping track, what do you do?
  1. For those who don't go to the gym - how do you exercises? Running? Exercise bike etc?
  1. Do you use any aids that have really helped you with weight loss/toning up? I was thinking of getting a waist trainer but not sure if it's a waste of money
  1. How many calories do you aim to eat a day?

Thank you!

  1. I am working my way up. Currently go 3 times a week plus ad-hoc sessions every now and again, but hoping to up to 4-5 plus maybe a couple swims. I don't track calories burnt.

  2. I tend to go to classes which are around 45mins-1hr long. When I go to aqua if I'm still full of beans or enjoying myself I stay for a few lengths too.

  3. I go to the gym as structure and routine works best for me. Before I went to the gym I enjoyed dance workouts on YouTube. I found having something that was a set amount of time really helps me. I used to also make sure I did 10,000 steps a day but need to get back into that.

  4. I don't use aids. As far as I know though a waist trainer isn't designed to help you lose weight as much as it is to tone.

  5. I don't count calories but do tend to follow a lowish carb diet (for other medical reasons)

  1. Exercise most mornings, for about 30-40 minutes. According to my watch I burn about 200-300 calories in that time but I dunno how accurate it is. But I don't exercise to burn calories, I do it to help with my pain, if I skip even just a couple of days my leg pain comes back really bad and I have to exercise and stretch a lot for a few days before it eases again. Also to help with my posture.
  2. I don't really try to keep track of anything, I just exercise until I feel I've done enough.
  3. I don't go to a gym or anything, I just do ringfit at home and go for exercise walks (so walking at a fairly swift pace)
  4. Don't have any aids but thinking of getting some small hand weights/dumbells to try and increase my strength a bit, and I'm hoping that by improving core strength my belly will become more toned.
  5. I don't track calories but I do do intermittent fasting which naturally lowers the amount of calories I consume as I'm only eating within a 6 hour window each day. Have (slowly) lost weight by doing this over the last few years.

4 x 50min CrossFit classes, 1 x 1hr boot camp and I vaguely track calories using an Apple Watch (roughly 1500 to 1800 a week through classes).

If you don't use calories as a way of keeping track, what do you do? I really see progress through increased ability with weights and reps.

Do you use any aids that have really helped you with weight loss/toning up? I was thinking of getting a waist trainer but not sure if it's a waste of money. Nope, I think the money is best spent on good trainers and a cracking sports bra!

How many calories do you aim to eat a day?
I don’t track exact calories, just try to have 1 portion of Wholemeal carbs once or twice a day max, plenty of protein and limit sugars.

I ride and look after multiple horses a day. I don't count slow hacking work, but I know from using HR sensors and activity trackers that schooling / jumping / stamina training counts as cardio. Plus lugging bales of hay / straw, bags of feed, mucking out etc. I also walk or run with the dogs and try to do some boxing training a couple of times a week.

I don't track calories - work is done when the horses have had whatever learning outcome / exercise they need that day and everything else has been done.

Motivation comes from podcasts / audiobooks and the fact that once you have horses, they just need doing whether you want to or not.

I don't aim for anything calorie-wise. I eat when I'm hungry. If I stop before the biscuits are done, it's a good day 😂

I exercise every day. 3 runs a week, a couple of HIIT workouts, 3 x resistance training, Pilates one day and stretching one day. Don't have any calorie burn target.

If you don't use calories as a way of keeping track, what do you do?

I just following training programmes

For those who don't go to the gym - how do you exercises? Running? Exercise bike etc?

I run outside, then HIIT, resistance, Pilates and stretching at home. I do go swimming with my DC too.

Do you use any aids that have really helped you with weight loss/toning up? I was thinking of getting a waist trainer but not sure if it's a waste of money

I use weights for resistance.

How many calories do you eat?

I aim to eat healthily most days rather than calorie count

I walk a lot, run sometimes, do a lot of gardening and try to be generally active. I aim to sit for no longer than 20 minutes at a time.

I never count calories but eat a fairly healthy vegan diet. I don't use any aids, not sure what they are actually. No food, only plain water, after 6.30 pm.

I weigh myself about once a fortnight and if I have gone over 8 and a half stone I just eat less for a bit.
