Is this a CF proposition?

A friend of mine through same age DDs and baby groups (not super close but I'm fond of her) sells kids clothes on EBAY etc. She buys things cheap at cat boot sales etc and sells on for profit

I have a load ( 2 years worth) of kids clothes in gold condition that would sell on but work long hours. I've thought about charity shop/ refugees etc but TBH I'd really like to add to DD's savings pot

Would IBU to suggest to friend she sell the clothes and we split the return? My thinking was it's her time: & effort but my 'capital' so 50:50 is fair

No expectation she will be up for it - just checking if it's mad/ I'm a CF

YABU. list them on vinted.

I think it's totally fair to suggest.

I’ve done the same for a family member . However, just be aware you will get very little money from selling at a boot stall compared to other ways. You may be a bit disappointed with your return .

Indicatrice · 07/05/2022 21:59

That’s very fair, and not CF at all. 50% could be a good incentive for her if she is good at selling on eBay.

Why don’t you sell them yourself in bundles? That should be quicker.

Ignore me . I mis read your post . But still not cheeky .

I would have thought that a 'cat boot sale' is a pretty narrow market, so I'm not sure how much success you will have.

I've tried to put a tee-shirt on a cat and it didn't like it at all. So the idea of trying to gets boots on to a cat, just where they have claws, seems to me a step too far to me ... Shock

It sounds like a reasonable proposition to me. Just ask her, maybe phrase it as, 'if you're not to busy' or 'if you have the time' so she's got an easy out if she isn't keen on the idea.

Madmaxxy · 07/05/2022 22:18

I don't think it would be unreasonable to ask your friend at all. However you could list them on Vinted which is sooooo much simpler than eBay/car boot and keep 100% of what you make.

TokyoTen · 07/05/2022 22:36

Ita fair. But you'll get a tiny amount. Try vinted.

1WomanWonder · 07/05/2022 22:39

Twoleftsocks is missing out on the Puss in Boots angle. Could really leverage sales.
(PS...just ask your friend)

Bryonny84 · 07/05/2022 22:44

I've sold things for friends on ebay no problem. I would say though that if you ask your friend and she says yes that you are both 100% in agreement (possibly written down) what the payment amounts and method are going to be. Also that you have a note of what the inventory is and what sells when. It does have the possibility to go wrong.
