To ask is there a cost of living crisis in the EU too?

We were told to expect massive food cost increases as a result of brexit yet the media don't seem to be making the link.

If you live in the EU are you also facing a cost of living crisis and increasing costs in energy, food etc?

Yes. I'm in Ireland and there is a huge cost of living crisis here also.

Yes (don’t live there but friends and relatives do).

The cost of energy is going up and as a consequence everything else. Eg, your food needs to be transported, chilled etc.

I feel from what they tell me it’s not quite as bad though - eg, I don’t hear stories about food banks being at capacity and having to choose whom to feed. Perhaps that’s Brexit or years of austerity / neglect of the poor from the Tory government.

Only EU adjacent, but it was in the news that Turkey are experiencing rises of up to 70%!

In France, prices are certainly going up but the government has capped household energy bill rises at 4%. The main electric / gas companies are still partially state owned / controlled, so they are basically being forced to suck up the rising cost of fuel. If French people were faced with 54% increases on their electric bills there would be a(nother) revolution.

food is increasing, petrol and diesel are up. But tbh France has not been a cheap place to live for a long time - food has always been a great % spend than in the U.K., there’s not the same expectation of being able to buy food so cheaply.
