Baby still has formula milk at 12 months

DD turned 1 a couple weeks ago. I am struggling to let go of formula milk - she still has a 4/5oz bottle first thing in the morning, a smaller bottle in the morning or afternoon (we have replaced the 2nd day time bottle with cow's milk), and a large 8oz bottle before bed. So she's having 3 a day still.

She's picky with her meals, will eat bits but mostly throws it on the floor. This is the reason I'm still holding onto the formula because I'm worried she won't have a full tummy from the small amounts of solids she's eating.

Can I keep up with the formula until she's eating better? Or do I need to let it go? I'm so worried about her calorie intake and nutrition, it really consumes my mind. 😢

Keeping up the formula will be ensuring your daughter isn’t hungry enough to eat, exacerbating ‘picky eating’. I’ve been there, we’ve combated it now through help from NHS dietician and the organisation Solid Starts. Now is really the time to change it before the picky eating gets entrenched.

She is great and really honest and down to earth.

I learnt lots from her and use her website as reference, there’s info on there about milk too. It’s a journey so don’t be too hard on yourself, you’re already doing a great job 😊.

We've never used cows milk. Son has always had formula. We don't care about the cost or what others think we should be doing. It worked for us and our son is happy!

If this makes you feel better, my DD is 2.5 and still has a cup of stage 1 formula. She had bowel surgery as a newborn and suffers still. We tried so many times to switch her to cows milk but just ends up with her in agony 2/3 weeks later. We even tried toddler milk, same result. Her surgical team said its fine and we can continue as we are, although the all knowing HV ive never met before pitched a fit at DD 2yr check when i mentioned it.
