This morning at 10.30 an upcoming job interview was confirmed by email. At 3 it was cancelled. I work in education so references are generally asked for before interviews.
WIBU to suspect my head of somehow sabotaging my interview?

“Not in a position to interview” is usually code for other candidates dropping out and them not wanting to run the interview with the one or two candidates not to have pulled out. There’s definitely a chance it’s just a coincidence.

References are generally read after interview.

Not in teaching . Reference requested before interview is offered.

Yes but they shouldn’t be read until afterwards.
