Toddler wind at night

Hello. My daughter has just turned 2. She has always been an awful sleeper. Since I've been able to understand her more, I've realised she often wakes with a tummy ache and awful gas. She really screams. I have to help her by holding her legs up while bouncing her, her back is on my chest if you can picture it. This helps but kills my back and takes time. We cut out dairy about 6 months ago and that really helped but hasn't completely solved the issue. I notice if she's eaten more processed food or a lot of bread it is worse.

I also wonder whether it could be because she often eats quite quickly and perhaps doesn't chew her food enough. Aibu to think this could cause wind hours later at night time?

I keep thinking she'll grow out of it but when. Just wanted to see if there was anyone with a similar experience or advice please? She clearly has a sensitive little digestive system but I've got no idea how to help.

Ps Dr useless and we are under an allergy nurse for dairy but they have limited advice and just keep talking about the milk ladder.

Am in the same situation and really feel your pain. Following for possible solutions!

Over 50% of children who are allergic to dairy are also allergic to soya. I would consider cutting out soya for a couple of weeks.

Had to cut out milk for my youngest but that only helped minimally. I cut out eggs and yoghurt too and that seemed to do the trick.

I would echo doing a trial without soya (maybe 6 weeks to clear from their system), then reintroducing to see if symptoms return, as some kids with cows milk allergy also react to soya. Check food labels- soya is in so many things (particularly soya in bread). These Facebook groups may be useful www.facebook.com/groups/CMPASr/?ref=share and www.facebook.com/groups/Allergy.diet/?ref=share. The food maestro app is also good for finding allergen friendly foods. My son gets gastric symptoms from egg, milk (and all milk containing products) and soya

Thank you all. I will give no soya a go. Any more experiences welcome.

Hello, I realise I’m a bit late to the party here but have the exact same issue with my new 18 m DD and I just wondered if you ever got to the bottom of this with your little girl? DD was diagnosed with a dairy and egg allergy from 6m ( immediate allergic reactions to both when eaten) but has been such a terrible sleeper despite cutting these out, due to trapped wind. We’re waiting for test results for Coeliac disease at the minute - was this ever suggested by your dr? hoping it’s not this because the poor love really won’t be able to eat anything at this rate!
