Dog poo in garden

Friend has dogs. I never have so don't really know what is involved. Child was playing in their garden and got dog poo on him. I didn't stop him initially as I didn't know that this was likely to happen. I was a bit taken aback (and still feel a bit sick thinking about it) and don't want him to play there any more which is a shame. Am I over-reacting? Thinking about it even if he doesn't play on the grass their kids will and given dogs can't wipe their own bums it seems likely there will also be dog poo in the house? How do people rationalise this?

Your friend needs to pick the shit up. Simple as that. Then it won't happen.

I would have been furious if one of my dc had been let out to play in garden with loads of dog shit in it and it had got on them.

I do take a glance at my dog's bum if he's been shitting. I will wipe with a babywipe if there are any marks (he is bright white with short hair so it's very easy to see) then I will wipe them with a baby wipe. Dog doesn't seem to mind this. There is no dog shit in my house.

Fair enough you don’t want your child playing in the garden due to the poo.

There won’t be poo in the house as dogs anuses come outwards when a poo comes out, then retract again. Humans don’t do this, hence we need to wipe out bums and dogs don’t.

Urgh, you don’t rationalise it, you just pick it up straight away!
That’s what we do, the same as when we are out of the house.
Provided the dog is wormed then hand washing is all your dc need to do and no need to worry, but I understand it’s gross.

I had this more than once at the same house and I stopped DS playing there. It is disgusting. I invited the child to our house instead where's there's no dog poo.

Every morning. I pick the dog poo up in our garden every single morning. With a torch in the dark in winter if I have to. And again if I see one later in the day. Cannot bear the thought of our two dogs tracking through it and walking back into the house. I would be absolutely mortified if a guest trod in our own dogs' poo.

I know friends who just leave it for days and I consider it the height of absolute bone idleness. Just my opinion.

Dog poo gets picked up immediately in our garden here - or at the very least, later in the day. Always picked up straight away on walks and carried in its bag until we find a bin. I would certainly not allow children to play in the garden before doing a full check to make sure there's none there. Your friend is minging.
